Fics are being deleted for titles/summaries not being G rated, for stories containing curse words and mature content that FF feel don’t fit the rating and in some cases whole profiles being deleted without mercy. Notifications are not being sent, nor chances to rectify offered. Please, pass this all on.

This isn't about reporting. FF's purging everything. One of the authors I know got their entire 8-year-old account deleted for one stupid story rated T that had been better as M, another for having the word 'bitch' in the summary of one little story of the 100+.

I doubt you'll find anyone here sympathizing with an author whose had their fics removed for breaking the site rules. A lot of us are tired of rule breaking fanfics. Not to mention most of us know that the site admins give people two strikes and don't send out notifications. Why should they on things that the rule is rather clear cut?

I disagree. I have had 13 fics deleted, got only 1 mail for having used 'crap' in a summary of one. I never knew what happened to the 12 other fics. I sympathize. What is more infuriating is that authors much like the authoress of My Immortal walk free, as do authors who post chapters that consist of pure bashing on another fanfic author. I've been banned for days, while those trolls walk free.

>>3 - I don't know why I sympathize more with your telling of the events then the other one. Actually, they're two different stories really. I kind of get no notification about the fact they are removing the fic being given but the fact they don't tell you why they removed it after words is in fact irksome. This makes it harder for people to defend themselves. Personally, I would rather the grammar infractions, the song fics, and RPF be removed first and foremost.

What "Anonymous" posted is the bottom line, I guess.

I would consider them selfish chickens most of all - not even the damn nerve or respect to reply to a mail, asking what the hell in slightly more polite English. There's never time to reply, but there is enough time to delete a story for the word 'crap' in a summary, for deleting others' entire profile for one story that was supposedly M while T (and none of the even more critical readers thought they were quite right!). Personally, I hear enough 7-year-olds and younger use the word - rated above G, my ass.

>> 5 - While I know some kids that age that use that word I also know some of them who go "oh noes, a bad word was used!" However, I would also consider these kids rather sheltered. I myself didn't understand what the problem with the word was until I looked up the definition. Here is a link.

I always used it in context of two and three. I didn't realize it meant number one too. If you haven't posted the story again, you might want to send this in to the admins as a case to simply get the fic back, though all the reviews will be gone. Most people know it as the second two meanings, not the first. Your choice though.

What is funny is the fact they did that to you, but the person I reported for having tons of song lyrics in their fic they gave a double standard for and are giving her a chance to edit the lyrics out despite the fact she also harassed my in PMs.

This is a theory, but what if they have a new staff member who honestly doesn't know what they are doing? Or a new staff member that is playing a bit of favorites here. If so, I'm going to say they need to be canned big time.

The rules about fic ratings are pretty fuzzy on I mean, for example: sex. There's kissing and cuddling, right through to full intercourse, including rape and other violent (or even "weird") sexual acts. So at what point does sex actually become "M" rated? Or at what point do commonly used words become swearing/cursing? There's no clear indication of where the lines are drawn, so people aren't clear on what rating to use.

And while we're at it - am I the only person who doesn't like the new look, with the profile pics next to every story?!

>>7 I agree, some things are pretty fuzzy. Like I have scenes of intimacy in one or two of my M rated stories, and its very clear that the people are having intercourse but its nothing overly descriptive (I like to focus more on the mental/ emotional aspects rather than the physical) so I'm wondering is that okay or is it still considered a no-no? I know in television if there is such a scene its considered PG13 as long as its nothing graphic... it seems like more of a subjective matter if you ask me.

And my goodness, the new layout. I was happy they centered it, having to drag my eyes all the way over to the far left gets tiresome from time to time, but the pictures are just distracting! I already have a hard time carefully reading summary after summary, I don't need extra images cluttering up my field of vision!! Siiigh...I'm hoping this is just a 'phase' FF's going through, maybe they'll at least let us choose to omit the pictures in the future :/

>>7 - I'm going to agree with you on this. Some people say "no sex is allowed", other people say "it can only be mentioned in the back ground, no scenes it shows up in", while others say "sex scenes are fine so long as you aren't descriptive".

>>8 - I like the new layout. I know the extra images are bothering you right now but also think of it as a possible way to sort through which fics to skip over and a way for fics that normally wouldn't attract your attention to draw you in. I mean, aren't wish fulfillment Mary Sues going to plaster their Mary Sue on their cover art? That is just an example. You can also get an idea of a writers over all tone before going into the fic.

The problem comes from the fact most people posting have't begun to use the actual pictures in their stories yet. So you're going to get a Harry Potter avatar in the Avatar: the Last Airbender fandom.
