Help? (8)

The one problem I have with fanfiction is that I have to spend hours searching to find at least one good story and usually end up only finding mediocre ones. So I set up a website where I can post all links to sites or stories for everyone to use.
I have it all set up and ready to go live, except for the fanfics themselves.
I don't know which fandom to start with and compared to others I only read a few fandoms, and could use some help.
If you guys could help me with what fandoms to start with or drop links to sites that I should include I would really appreciate it.

I don't really have time to help with your project, but I do have a suggestion. Start by looking through the fandoms you do know and look good and hard at the reviews on the mediocure stories. Look for reviews from people who give good critique and ask those people for help with the fandoms you don't know so well. Otherwise, you may end up with some people who will give you any fanfic they like.

I have read quite a lot of fanfic in many categories... feel free to contact me through FF

So, you want links to high quality fanfictions?

I don't mind doing that. There aren't many, depending on how strict you are.

Incidentally, how I look for fanfics is by checking out who my fave authors have on their read lists or fave lists.

Define "good" fanfiction!! Most of them don't meet my own high standards, so I personally wouldn't class them as "good". However, there's plenty of crap out there with loads of gushing reviews, so... I don't envy you your task! Good luck with it.

Oh, and what >>4 moonphase said about checking your favourite authors' reading habits. Good place to start.

>>5 - That's why this is going to be a big step to take. I remember back in the early days of the HP fandom where people would "list something" simply to draw more attention to their own stuff.

I did post in this!! Eurgh!
But, yeah, I think for the start it would just be listing the main sites for fandoms. Depending on who's helping me, we'd have a certain number of fandoms, and have the option for people to contact us with a site that we missed.
Haven't sorted out the fanfiction aspect.
Maybe, if I can find an appropriate place to host it, I could work on one fandom at a time, put stories into a vote and see the most popular.
Could have it that anyone can enter stories but they need to be screened.
Or if I have a lot of people helping me we could do it among ourselves.
