Seasonal 'Fics. (5)

So, Christmas is fast approaching and Halloween has already passed us by. I've noticed that, with the coming and going of the busy holiday season, a lot of seasonal 'fics have cropped up.

Most of them have to do with Christmas/Costume parties, and the such. And, I was just wondering what everyone's opinion on little drabbles such as are.

I, personally, don't really read them. So, I don't know much about them. I'm just curious about how many people have read them and liked / hated them. ;D

There's a time and place. And a fandom. All too often... people mess up and use the wrong sort of fandom.

I don't mind them too much, but there's only a certain point, y'know? For example, I'm from the YGO fandoms (specifically 5D's) and I have no problems if it's dub!verse, as the dub shifted the city's location from Japan to America iirc. Even in the sub I don't mind it, /so long/ as they remember that it isn't a holiday over there for the same reasons as in the West.

If it's a fandom that's in an entirely different setting - for example LoTR, Naruto, Star Wars, etc., worlds that aren't reflections of ours - then they annoy me. Really, really annoy me. And I'll avoid them like the plague...

>>2 yeah, it gets very annoying when festivities that do not belong in the canonverse, are used as central plot themes.
But, i tend to ignore the fact if it is well-writen. I have come across of lots of such Christmas themed Naruto. Some of them are acceptable to read.

Also, such fics tend to be pairing oriented and are short (mainly oneshots). Since they are short, ignoring the paradox becomes easier for me.

>>2 - Yup. Christmas is not the same... http://www.tanutech.com/japan/jxmas.html

>>2 & >>3 - Those are the ones that are the most problematic, where they occure in different worlds then ours. I saw one LotR fanfic that turned it to yule time.
