Fanfiction Pet Peeves (10)

When your on a fanfiction website, reading or browsing a story or writing it, what really ticks you off the most? what would annoy me are stories that are put in the wrong category. i <3 SasuNaru and im browsing a romance story with Character A being Sasuke and B being Naruto, i would see a story and it would be SasuSaku as the main pairing and NaruHina just on the side; no trace of SasuNaru to be seen. i read the story nonetheless and was good, i must admit, and in the review i have said so, though i did ask for her to correct the category of this.

Actually I don't think there are truly correct catagories. If someone put Naruto and Sasuke as the main focus it doesn't necessarily mean its Sasunaru or Narusasu. I admit it annoys me too but Fanfiction isn't exactly precise in finding what you want. The thing is anyone can put those two (or any other anime/book/etc characters) as the main characters or focus of the story and have it be about friendship, family, etc. For being under the romantic genre, maybe its because it does have romance in it just not between those two.

I never seen the story so maybe it was the wrong pairing that was catagorized and I'll apologize for probably reading your comment wrong. Its 3AM and my insomia is keeping me up but I'm a little groggy.

Hm I guess my pet peeve is when people ignore the warnings or when a review is completely out of line. I remember I read this sad YGO fic and the reader had the gall to yell at the writer for having Yugi die. I was kind of pissed off really. The plot was beautiful even though it had been inspired by the Little Mermaid (not the disney version) in a way but still had a bit of the authors originality in it. But yeah, if a death fits the fic and is still beautifully written the author shouldn't get yelled at for it. What ticked me off more was that the person didn't have the guts to sign in.

>>1 Actually, the character filter is there to designate the MAIN characters of a story. So, for example, just if I mark a story as Naruto and Sasuke centric -- it doesn't mean that, if I have pairings, that should automatically be it. Perhaps it can be more confusing if the story is a romance, as you've said, but if Naruto and Sasuke are the main characters they should be marked as the main characters. It's the author's prerogative to notify readers in the summary, or in a note at the beginning of Chapter 1, however they can choose to refrain from this if they want.

Besides, if it had been marked as Sasuke and Sakura, would you have read it? You said yourself the story was good - it just wasn't what you were expecting.

My pet peeve is when people don't check to see if a thread they're looking for already exists before they make a new one.

>>9 People are being a bit...'aggressive' (for want of a better word) because we have had quite a lot of trouble in the past with people making lots of threads that already existed, or were meaningless. Don't worry about it too much, just be more careful next time ;)
