Music and writing; what does your play list consist of? (13)

For me it all depends upon the type of story. If it's dark, I don't think I'd be listening to my work-out mix to get me pumped up. But, mostly (reguardless of the genere) I mostly listen to either Boston, Journey, Styx, Eagles, Def Leppard--oldeies--OR, I type in "Breaking Benjamin" onto Pandora and just go to town that way.

I agree with you, Dark Angel Kira, it does all depend on what it is I'm writing.

At times, when I'm writing something sad, I like to listen to something more piano or acoustic to mellow me out and actually make me picture what's going on in depth. Whereas, if there's some kind of horror and//or fight scene going on, I like to have some kind of loud rocking beat or even electronic. The same goes for sensual scenes, usually something electronic either that or mellow.

Ex:
Mellow - Hallelujah (Kate Voegele)
Sullen - Luckiest (Ben Folds Five)
Action//Horror - Skillet, Breaking Ben, or Clubbed To Death (Rob Dougan)
Sensual - What Would Happen If We Kissed (Meredith Brooks) or Take It Off (Kesha)

Unless I listen to a song and see a story play out from it I don't have music to go with it. Now my newest fan-fictions actually had a full playlist of the main story and sequels. Each playlist had a wide varity to them. From skillet to kelly clarkson, daughtry, adam lambert. very mixed yet they all held about the same story with in.

I listen to Disturbed, Nightwish, Evanescence, Emilie Autumn, Skillet and yadda yadda yadda...

I always listent to them when I write. NO idea why though.

I like listening to old rock bands while I write: Madness, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin...sometimes David Bowie too.

>>5 Disturbed definatly.

I find Green Day and Zebrahead are the best, especially when thinking up chapter titles.

You lot are lucky. I find that I can't listen to music when I want to write; the songs get in the way of the words I need.

Because I write for an anime series, I have a tendency to use music from the original soundtrack. Especially when I can track down the piece that, if my writing was animated, would be playing in the background at that moment.

(My all time favourites have to be "Earthbound God", "Terror and Destruction", and "Yuusei Theme 2". There's so much emotion those three pieces can stir up.)

I generally listen to rock and some metal, but I have to be careful when I do this to make sure that it doesn't distract me from writing. I find that coming up with the words I need can sometimes be tricky when there's music going into my head.

Bands I listen to when I sit down to write normally include:
Alice Cooper
Eminem
Disney songs
Panic! At The Disco
Slipknot
Green Day
Marilyn Manson
Murderdolls
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Stone Sour
Kaiser Chiefs
Evanescence
Wednesday 13
KoRn
Lordi
Pendulum
The Killers
Linkin Park
My Chemical Romance
Disturbed
Lostprophets
The Sex Pistols
Nirvana
Iron Maiden
Nine Inch Nails

On the second Line of your post you put 'Nrrd Grrl' That's not the Hank Green song from the Vlogbrothers channel on youtube by any chance? If I have it wrong just say so, but I think I recognise the title.

Disney song... I owe them some crackfics... well not quite...

Though I have one song I always tie to Voldemort and it's Pinky and The Brain's theme. Weird.

One of my Bleach fic was written because of 'If I could fly', by Helloween... And Within Temptation (and Nightwish) are responsible for my angst.
Battle scene have to include 'Du siehst mich nicht' and Rammstein songs. Otherwise... can be anything. Won't give a list of the bands I like/listen to - for now, it's Cradle of Filth (mostly 'Ten Leagues Beneath Contempt'...).

It depends on the story I'm writing. I mostly listen to rock/poprock/alternative punkish music, but when I need to write a part that's quite sad or sensitive, I put up more sad songs or a nice acoustic song. For battle scenes, I would have to listen to some Dragonforce or something xD

But I'm currently making a band fic (K-ON!/Strawberry Panic sort of crossover) and when I'm writing that I listen to a lot of K-ON songs and Jrock/Jpop.

So yeah, it depends.

Kind of depends for me. When I'm writing K-ON fics I listen to K-ON music, otherwise I'll just put my iTunes to shuffle and go through my entire spectrum ranging from rock and punk to trance.
