No, you're in the correct section (which makes a pleasant change). Utilise some capital letters and apostrophes, and we'll be best friends.

If you are a member of another fanfic forum that offers competitions and RPs, you could try taking part in those; they can help. Alternatively, you could try a technique that works for me, wehre you cast your mind around, considering different characters until you alight on one that vaguely captures your interest. Then repeat for stages in their timeline, until you find something that really interests you (by this point, a vague idea for a plot should already be coming to mind). If your fics are more history/geography based, use times and places instead of characters. I find that this really helps me; sometimes a very minor character can be the person I need to write (or think) about at that moment.

(Btw, I am notorious when it comes to slow updates, but it's not because of a lack of ideas; I just cannot be bothered to write anything down. Then I forget my plots and feel a slight sense of loss. Such is life.)

Maybe try an idea like this, write a random scene not knowing what's going on and let your mind explore the reasons for the scene.
"A cold winter wind blew across his face sending chills down his spine. He buried his hands and his pockets before slowly walking away. He didn't want to go, but knew there wasn't another choice."
Take that idea if you want, or try a technique like that.

Let me know what sort of fics you like to work in, and I''ll find you something. It'll be at least somewhat superhero-based though.

You could search through different fan sites and look for prompts and challenges, and then try writing ones that take your fancy. You'll soon get your own ideas :)

Do any of you know any alternate fanfiction sites that offer challenges apart from fanfiction.net?

and thanks for the tips :)

It depends on your fandom(s). Try looking for forums aimed at people who write for said fandom(s) (the Orion Awards forums for Artemis Fowl fanfiction, for example). I think there are societies etc on LJ, too, but I'm not too sure; I rarely visit it. If you have a look around on your favourite authors' profile pages, the chances are that at least one of them will link to a forum they're a member of.
