Feeling ill - Make your characters suffer! (22)

Does anyone else, when they are ill, feel the need to make their characters ill too?
I don't know why I do this, but whenever I am ill I have to write a little one-shot where my boys have the same illness I am currently suffering from!

...I know!!! Same when I am in a angst mood, I have the urge for my characters to be raped or killed or someting (I'm a violent child). I'm surprised my charcters haven't started a rebellion yet...

Normally if I am sick I'm unable to plot ways to violently torture my characters, although I once burned my hand at work and one of my second thought was "This is a great way to find out what it will feel like for my character"

I totally do that. or when I read something sad that it makes me feel bad.
My best work is, is when I'm like 'down' and I write the feeling into my stories

I have this realy anoying college at work and when I get mad at him again, my characters get toruered again to.
And again when I'm feeling sick my characters become sick too.
I think its because whe all write with emotions and that our characters become a part of us and whe of them.

i do the same...... >>6 you're right. i think we all do write with our emotions. when i get really mad or upset and i'm writing, i hear a little voice in the back of my head telling me that if i'm upset make the characters suffer.... lol i'm weird but i do it too....

>>2 mine too to be honest. My characters don't exactly enjoy feeling my pain but hey, they live with it :D

I make my characters suffer even when I'm not ill. It makes me happy. =D

... But I don't write illness fics. Just not my cup of tea. (And I can't understand people who use it as a ham-handed romance plot device. Illnesses of any type are decidedly unsexy.)

I don't usually use illness in fics unless it wsa planned from the start or can be used in the plot as a crossroad of sorts (someone might die, people confess, etc etc).
So....no, I don't make my characters ill when I am, unless I'm ill writing it anyway. Gosh, that line was figged up xD

When I'm ill I generally write short one-shots, rather than making my characters ill, as I generally don't have enough energy to do any more.

If I'm ill, I write crack, usually something completely insane to lift my spirits. So no making characters suffer here, though I do that when I'm feeling depressed...in my head.

I always make characters suffer if I'm in an angsty mood, or I'll read something angsty. It makes me feel better!

14 Name: Licious461 : 2010-06-27 22:08 ID:HFle1lmn

I always tend to write very romancy stories, which is very strange because in real like, I'm like totally anti-romance. It doesn't come easily to me, but it does when I'm writing

Wow...I feel the same way!
I wrote a story of my character on mothers day and missing her mom...when I missed mine...

It's fun to write sad stuff..
But I usually try to make it funny!

I do that sometimes, I usually like to relate my characters to myself.

Oh man, I got H. Pylori a while back, my poor characters suffered so bad.

... Hmm, maybe I need to be better to them?

Oh, I LOVE doing that! I have a whole fanfiction dedicated to illnesses and maladies that bring a smirk to my face.

And I love to bring emotional suffering to characters as well. It makes me happy. However, I don't think I'm THAT sadistic...

Strangely enough, when I'm in a good mood I enjoy putting my characters through Hell, emotional Hell at least. Although, when I'm love-sick I write really sappy emo Romeo and Juliet love stories.

22 Name: Prince : 2010-07-15 15:53 ID:7wHRpYP8

If I'm sick, I do have a tendency to incorporate that into my writing. It usually ends with me listening to some really depressing music while three or four of my characters die in the background. Gods I'm so mean.
