Don't you find it realy anoying when somebody reviews your story saying... "I thought your story was good, read mine its called 'insert title here'" or somthing along thows lines.

I get so irritated when people try making me read their story!!! It makes me think they didnt even bother read it and were just wanting you to read theres. So does other people get this problem & if you are a person who does this - WHY? it just anoys everyone!!

Yeah, they're idjits. There are worse things, though: I recently saw a review that was like, "Your story was pretty poorly done. Would you please read mine?" I guess that's more honest, but it's still reviewwhore!fail.

I usually can't stand those reviews, too. I think it's downright rude. I've received reviews like that in which the reviewer didn't say anything (good or bad) about my story at all.

However, sometimes you get a review that says, "I once wrote something similar, you might like to read it". Those reviews I don't mind, because it shows the other person has the same interests, and read your story carefully enough to notice the similarities.

I know what you people mean!
We wait for a review and that's what we get! To read their story?!

Yeah, I get those reviews too. And I don't respond to them either way. It just pathetic if you beg for readers.
I think it's a lot better if you write your story, post it and then forget about it (if it's a oneshot, otherwise keep updating). That's what I do because I don't necessarily need reviews, I just want people to know that I am out there if they would decide to read it.
But sending reviews with a request, hell no. It kind of gives the author the message : I did something nice for you, so now you do it for me. And that's not how it works.

In my fandom, there's somebody who keeps going around "requesting" information on how to write a 'Riding Duel' as an anonymous reviewer. Doesn't even say anything about the story they're posting it on - it's just a copypasta, utterly pointless, and frustrating as heck for the people who get them.

Gin, are you talking about YGO5D's? Because I got that on one of my stories, and it was utterly annoying.

Gosh, it is really annoying. They read the story, could they please review it before being a walking advertisement? Oftentimes the stories aren't even that great. If you need to advertise like an idiot to get people to read your stories, then I don't think it'll be any good.

I hadn't realised they'd got you, Jen. Makes me glad I'm only writing oneshots (for the moment..) as it's the multichapters that seem to get targeted most.

In the case of this "aa" .. person, I doubt they're reading the story. They're just spamming as many people as they can.

Not really. I mean sometimes they're good stories that you will miss. IDK, I haven't beindg bothered with this yet.
