How do you get bunnies? (23)

I ask this cause I was watching Spooks AKA MI5 season 7 with Richard Armitage as Lucas North, and didn't realised after watching it again that Lucas had been Tom's trainer and boom a bunny climbed up my leg, demanded to be written. Being a slash writer at heart I got Lucas/Tom in my head.

Don't know the fandom, go here. You get a pretty good idea what's about.

So how do you get bunnies? Watching an eppy from your favorite fandom, or getting inspired by something you see or do? Listening to music or read a good book and get idea's in your head, because of what your reading? It happened to me. headdesk all of it.

I get plot bunnies the whole time! Reading, watching TV, watching a film, etc. and generally they have to do with a slash pairing...

Even just innocent sentances from other people are twisted up and get the bunnies hopping around in my head; my brain would be pummeled to death without fanfiction!

Music too now I think about it, muse comes from just about anywhere.

My bunnies comes at random times... Then they start breeding and mutating until they bear any resemblance to the bunnies they once were.

Sometimes they'll come from a TV show or an advert, song lyrics, a picture, a conversation I overhear in a shop one day... I never know when they're going to strike so I tend to carry paper and pens with me wherever I go so I can write down what the bunnies whisper to me straight away.

Conversations with my brother, movies, songs, books, reading other peoples' fanfics...plot bunnies can strike at any time!

It... just happens. And always at the most inopportune time. I have woken in the middle of the night and wrote down an idea. Needless to say, that idea was completely nonsensical, and had to modified into something sane.

Well when a daddy bunny and a mummy bunny love each other very much... Sorry but someone had to say it sooner or later. Mine come from books, films, hell even character biographies. I wrote Feral after reading a marvel universe entry for Beast and finding out he had pheromone powers. Didnt know it, thought " ooh idea " and got a bit slashy. Anything can do it but most of my bunnys dont work out a lot of the time.

I may seem weird, but bunnies never really seemed to work for me, so I now have a resident blob inside my head called I. Lead. He gives me ideas and we're getting on great. :)

8 Name: Dubbers : 2009-12-23 10:21 ID:dPfzsOWt

I generally get them pouncing on me just when I'm dropping off to sleep. Annoying much! I've taken to keeping a pen, paper, and a net by my bed.

9 Name: tiger002 : 2009-12-23 10:30 ID:FPIk6+rT

Dreams, and random ideas that shove themself into my head. Songs are a good source of them, or just thinking about a fandom i havn't watched in a while can give me ideas.

Anything and everything maks my bunnies multiply.

Occasionally they bite as well and I can't shake them off, but generally they come at all moments of the day- especially when I'm driving!

11 Name: Rivala : 2010-04-13 04:45 ID:DhSMlpvR

I get them from songs, mainly. Mainly ones that are completely random, usually Touhou songs.

12 Name: Bola : 2010-04-14 01:14 ID:IcixugrP

I get them basically off everything. Songs... Poems... episodes... dreams...

13 Name: Lupa Dracolis : 2010-04-14 01:30 ID:XGGXOWJd

>>8 I lol'd at 'net'...then again, I keep a plastic Harry Potter wand by my bed, along with my notepad...

>>13 plastic Harry Potter wand that's awesome.
But the attack of the rabid plot bunnies... dude those things can be evil creeping up when you least expect it. I've had a few sneak up on me in exams- not the best time when you should be remembering the formula of some obscure chemical or the value of x- I had to physically stop myself from doodling my ideas on the exam paper...why do the best ideas come at the worst times.

15 Name: Crowbar_Gazoolies : 2010-04-16 14:44 ID:RnIQlc0c

For me it's usually just odd little things like a sentance someone says, or maybe even a raod sign x]
Sadly, it doesn't help my spelling...
Sometimes, it's things in books, telly, games, well...actually, anything that I might interesting.
Seriuosly, I got a whole story (all one page of it xD) from a song by Friendly Fires "Strobe".

16 Name: Gin : 2010-04-18 01:30 ID:RcBDUCHA

I get bunnies from talking to people, particularly on forums. There's something about tossing around random theories and timelines that inserts the dratted things into my head.
I also get them in the twilight just before you go to sleep - unfortunately (or is that fortunately?) I don't keep a pen and paper nearby anymore, so most of those ones get lost.

17 Name: tiger002 : 2010-04-23 20:14 ID:Ha6T1bQu

I can get bunnies from literally anything. Last night I got an idea for a ninja adventure fic from a back of potato chips.

I want those potato chips...

20 Name: Moonphase : 2010-04-24 16:21 ID:vvqin7Lz

Documentaries usually give me ideas. Or dreams.

21 Name: True Colours : 2010-04-25 08:58 ID:osVdvppN

I am sort of constantly embroidering real life in my head, taking my OCs and mixing them up with the characters in all the films and books I like. Like, literaly all. And then I just take anything remotely interesting that happens and work it in. Like for example, my granddad knocked a glass of wine into my lap, and is not exactly the type to admit anything is his fault, and afterwards my dad said he was impressed by how calm I'd been about it, and I told him it was because I'd immediately started thinking, what if Chancellor Palpatine from Star Wars was having a formal dinner and people started saying things that were coming close to revealing that he was an evil Sith lord, so he deliberately knocked his wine over a visiting dignitary in order to change the subject?
I also get them from my sister.

22 Name: Lupa Dracolis : 2010-04-26 11:12 ID:399xdnHP

>>21 please tell me you've written a story including that

23 Name: Yellow 14 : 2010-05-21 15:01 ID:cCzy13N2

Literally anywhere. Normally at all the wrong times.
