Are there any fics you think could be a real book? (38)

1 Name: sailorjupiterox : 2009-10-05 10:26 ID:PQAc+5U4

I know that there has been a few stories that I have read that I have thought, 'Wow, if that person changed the names, it could definitely be a book.
This would (obviously) only work on AU's. But there have been a couple, to name one - As The Eagle Flies (By Silent Serenade) that have blown me away and just make you think that some authors that have been published hold nothing to our very dear fanfiction writers :)

So, have you ever read any?

Ooh I know a story that would make a good soap opera... her name is cartoonstar and she is amazing!!!

She really knows how to capture teen drama!

3 Name: Princess Tiger : 2009-10-05 13:54 ID:TefZbsYg

'Experiment' by Kitty of Insanity would definately work, if Pokémon were changed to dragons and special creatures, like centaurs, and names were changed around, it would be amazing.
Another one would be 'Misty the Matchmaker' by AngelicFairy. Your typical rom-com, with a little added drama and a world that seems so small, it's confusing, it would also make a great mini TV series.

4 Name: Hawkesey : 2009-10-06 07:23 ID:I8qkWGoP

HELL YES

The Ex-Factor by AngelAtTwilight. It is SO good. Also Bittersweet Symphony by I'mwiththevampires08

both REALLY good

5 Name: horned reaper 266 : 2009-10-06 11:32 ID:m8ZHX8JC

i know one fic that has been turned into a story the story is called as the world dies by a gal called Rhiannon Frater its a great story but the authoress took it off the site though and she's deleted her fan fic account found her site though it's http://rhiannonfrater.blogspot.com/ if anyone wants to look

6 Name: ComaWhite.X : 2009-10-06 11:39 ID:2qlcYL8K

I really think that something along the lines of 'Spiral falling' by Becca Amon, or any other fan-fic that has caught the attention of hundreds and thousands should be turned into a book. It would have to have names changed of course, but to be able to capture people over and over is amazing and a really good confidence boost for fanfiction writers :)

7 Name: s i l v e r a u r o r a : 2009-10-07 11:15 ID:cHEW5d4o

Ohmygosh YES. The fic: In Fire, In Ice, by Moriordan (or something). It's a Wizards of Waverly Place fic and after I read it I literally felt as though my world had changed. It would make an amazing book.

8 Name: shmeeb : 2009-10-07 11:36 ID:jW/hfBYU

Wash It All Away is totally awesome!
the Author is amazing and deserves to be recognised

9 Name: elecktrum : 2009-10-07 14:25 ID:0GxrSnum

Oswiecim, a ST:DS9 fic by Gabrielle Lawson, is far better than most published Star Trek books out there. It's incredibly well thought out, researched, and very moving in its writing. The crew of the Defiant are thrown back in time, to Nazi Germany, and the DS9 crew is trying desperately hard to find and rescue Dr. Bashir from Auschwitz. It's a hell of a good read.

10 Name: Felix : 2009-10-08 11:10 ID:hLDKOKIG

Pokemon Master by Acey, and a few Naruto stories, one called Full Circle, can't remember who by, and the Mother's Love series by lord of the land of fire.

11 Name: Harbinger of Doom : 2009-10-08 12:12 ID:7mf8IqX+

I know of a Harry/Ginny fic on a website (Not ff.net) that is amazing
The writer is above and beyond JK.

12 Name: beka : 2009-10-13 08:54 ID:Egfn2vPc

The DAYD series are amazing, based on the last year at Hogwarts with the carrows and also Casting Moonshaddows, a sirius and remus fic, very well written

13 Name: CaffinH : 2009-10-13 09:00 ID:FHWUxQkh

Theres a fanfic on Fanfiction.net called "To Be Or Not To Be In love". its a sasuke/naruto gay Naruto fanfic but its so amazingly well written It could definatly be a novel.

14 Name: The Unreal Insomniac : 2009-10-14 02:54 ID:3xe1mY1I

Yeah I could name a few.

Most of them are Harry Potter fics, one in particular is Knowledge of Power by then SerpentSennin, but the bugger has disappeared and taken his stories with him. He had a Naruto story as well called Puppet Master Naruto and a Pokemon one I forget the name of. Any of his stories could have been books easy.

Also anything by Jbern could be published, if it wasn't rather reliant on Harry Potter lol.

Ichigo and the Beanstalk is good enough as well, as from about the Soul Soceity arc its completely different from the Canon, no Espada for example.

15 Name: tiger002 : 2009-10-14 12:54 ID:2eFWUMWB

The chaos demons by Kulamari is one that could be a novel, and he plans on publishing it after rewriting it and changing the character names.

16 Name: AzureFalls : 2009-10-15 06:55 ID:ewhDtRqN

I know of three 'fics that are AMAZING, and could easily sell millions if it weren't for copyrights.

All based on fanfiction.net, there's:
-What Never Should Be, by BlueCougar57 - an AU Torchwood 'fic
-Have You Ever, by Lady Moonglow - an AU-seventh-year Harry Potter 'fic
-Casting Moonshadows, by Moonsign - a Marauder-based Harry Potter 'fic

They are amaaazing. ^_^

18 Name: pinkcatheaven : 2009-10-18 01:09 ID:0vyhZquX

The Mentalist, by Verbalalchemist at Fanfiction.net. Its in the Misc. section, and completely original as far as I know. It's seriously amazing, and the authors amazing as well.

19 Name: Scourgeofthegalaxy : 2009-10-18 02:39 ID:CyKGLwpg

Couch Stories, by Sarge. It's an absolutely fantastic read. Book eleven is currently being written - and I'm still on book seven. It's based around the characters from Ranma 1/2, and the basic plotline is, what would happen when a psychiatrist comes to Nerima. Now, if you'll excuse me, i got some reading to do.

20 Name: SPG inc. : 2009-10-27 02:33 ID:nICpC9hk

Read her War works, there are amazing. Totally out of this world.

22 Name: Rhi.Scissorhands : 2009-11-01 14:34 ID:b5U0benz

Passing Strage by Pamena is a truly amazing Sweeney Todd story, one of the best fanfics I've ever read. It could be a really good book if it was published. Also, Don't Say Goodbye by littlezion and Bitter Freedoms by MoonlitSerenity and In The dark Beside by Saime Joxxers are three other Sweeney Todd fanfics that could make really good books. There was alo this amazing batman fanfic I read called The Secrets Of Scary People (I can't remeber who it's by) that could make an amazing book.

23 Name: Mikeru-D : 2009-11-02 11:27 ID:UXMT/hux

JohnPeacekeeper's 'Shakugan no Shana' fics: 'Eternity' and 'Eternal Destiny'.
Who cares if Series three is coming out next year?! His are good enough to better the real series hands-down! Seriously, freaking amazing series!

Well, it isn't really fanfiction, it's an origional story posted on Quizilla. I found it a good few years ago and read it three times over before I was done. I remember it to this day as one of my favourites.

The author is a very good writer in general and I love her work. Take a look if you like, the one I'm talking about is called 'The Sapphire Theif'

26 Name: Garden-of-Glass : 2009-11-02 13:23 ID:kalrjnCj

Okay, this is slash, but it's so brilliant that I couldn't stop reading it. A Long Hard Road is the most epic fic I've ever read. It so deserves to be a novel, and it's long enough already. It's on its own site I think though... Sephiroth & Cloud, if anyone cares.

27 Name: Ray : 2009-11-02 14:54 ID:L85jdfkO

The tea Series by Telnu. HP Snarry Slash. Hailed as the best of its kind. I, and thousand of others were hooked. You'll laugh, you'll cry etc. Now I get mixed up between her plot and the real ones a LOT.

28 Name: HuckingHarkness : 2009-11-03 08:36 ID:2ycB6f1G

There are quite a few stories I've read that I thought were AMAZING. The kind of thing that really blew me away. -so much so that I've really wanted to share them...

A Teaspoon and An Open Mind:
One was a mini series by 'SarcasticChick' called 'The Windhovers'. It's AU enough that a change of names could be really all it needs to be published. What's also really cool about this one, is that it has been recorded (read out loud) by a fan & can be downloaded as an mp3!
(Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULxWQAR21rw)

Also on my list:

  • What Never Should Be, by BlueCougar57 (As already mentioned above)
  • When In Rome, By SilverSolitaire (A little 'fruity' but what a story!)
  • Danse Macabre's "Trust" series

& Author on fanfiction.net 'cjh4ever' http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1569427/

There are so many excellent fics, I think I'll stop there for now; )

29 Name: Kiliro : 2009-11-04 13:49 ID:rfcs1/Jc

Definitely Not So Normal by biteoutoflife is she changed the names. Well, maybe that and a little more, but since it's an AU, if she also changed the Erasers in it, then it could be a book. :D I'd buy it if it was published.

30 Name: Kelly : 2009-11-04 15:30 ID:LVOWiVdI

The author padfoot4ever on harrypotterfanfiction.com
She's absolutely amazing, and has four thousand reviews (I think) on one of her fics!
Not that it's a surprise ^.^

31 Name: Kylara Kitsune : 2009-11-06 06:13 ID:tV7+W3Wy

Troy Stanton's "The dark adventures of Sailor Moon" - it's not on ff.net, but search for the title on google and you'll find his website. I fell in love with this story the first time I read it.

32 Name: Kylara Kitsune : 2009-11-06 06:14 ID:tV7+W3Wy

sorry, got the title wrong. it's "the dark adventures of the sailor scouts"

33 Name: Maeniel Celeres : 2009-11-06 07:15 ID:4s7Dy9lP

There are two for me which really stand out...probably the best I have ever read.
The first is the "The Euthanasia of Raccoon City" by SGT Perry on Fanfiction.net. Its a 298,201 word story on Resident Evil, and I honestly think that if it wasn't for Copyright Law, he could easily sell it as a novel, and I'd be one of the first to buy it. Heres the link to it:-http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2987254/1/
The Second is "Curse of Memory" by Peter J Marcroft, again, on Fanfiction.net. It's a whopping 601,338 words and is an unofficial novelisation of Final Fantasy VII. With the addition of a new Character who wasn't in the game, plus the ones we all know, its a brilliant story. It's a shame that he won't be able to publish it, again, due to Copyright Law. Heres the link to it:- http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1138642/1/Curse_of_Memory

34 Name: Yellow 14 : 2009-11-06 07:55 ID:K2MKLH6s

The Tower of Black Ivory by Johnny Frost. The first story I read on ff.net and one of the best authors on the site. Much as I loved the DAYD story, I think it's sequel Slaugh is a better canditate for the role of an independant fic (with a few modifications of course)

35 Name: EternallyJaded : 2009-11-07 09:43 ID:prsXHAR8

I know an awsome one called 'A Long Time Waiting' by Mandi1 which is, without fail, the BEST thing I have ever read! Unfortunately it couldn't be made into a real book because, although it's AU, it is too closely linked to Twilight.

36 Name: Mangaluva : 2009-11-08 06:27 ID:HkWjvp1F

An InuYasha writer called Sueric is actually compiling her epic Purity series into book form, but she's having to sell it quietly to her die-hard forum fans to avoid copyright >_>

37 Name: Key-chan : 2009-11-08 07:19 ID:e5dFYoPe

>>36 You don't don't need to sell your fic, but "When Pandora's Bow Is Opened" is something you could even show Gosho Aoyama-sensei and see what he thinks <3

38 Name: sheechiibii : 2009-11-08 11:48 ID:Qrst0E1O

Yes! Oh my god! I have a fan fiction story that I've read about twenty times it's that good. And it's long enough to be a novel as well.
It's called 'Almost Sucks' and it's a Naruto fanfic, with yaoi. I actually showed it to my friend, sent it through email, and he thought it was a real book.
This is a link to it;
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2738339/1/Almost_Sucks

It's honestly the best fan fiction story I've ever come across.
