is there something wrong with FF net? (25)

i mean since this weekend it keeps messing up with the update dates/time and the list of the stories is wrongly. but most importantly some readers cant view the new updates.

i had that problem with a story i wanted to read and i couldnt see the updated chapter, i tried like half an hour later though and i was able to read it.

i updated 8 hours ago one of my stories and a reader of mine complained that she couldnt read it.

i sent her the chap threw messaging but it is still a problem when ppl can't see the new chaps.

DO you have similar problem with FF net these days? or it is just me?

I have got it, too. It's really annoying, especially when you have already deleted the part you thought was saved on the site, but wasn't. sighs

really, i've never had a problem with ff.net. then again, i've never posted a multi-chapter fic, so it isn't possible fo rme to encounter that problem. anyhow, i've never encountered any problems except my own as i try to navigate things without reading directions.

I found that problem when I was trying to read the new chapter of one of my friends fics. I think the site was just busy because it only happened once, and hasn't happened since.

I haven't updated in a little while but there's never been any problems for my multi-chapter fics. I think it just happens when ff.net is really busy with people all posting.

well earlier when i refresh the page my story had disappeared and all the stories that had been updated after the 11th of september.

after a while i refreshed the page again and my last update was there along with the rest of the other fics that have been updated.

strange things :P guess some ghost is hiding the stories :P

7 Name: artemisdesari : 2009-09-14 11:59 ID:+JsdTa75

I've just had the same problem! One of my readers messaged me and told me she couldn't see the update, I'm hoping it will sort itself out or the site is just busy!

Everyone has that problem at some point. Some more then others. I think it's because it's such a big site and so many people use it so it glitches, a bit like how youtube sometimes goes really slow at certain times of the day. I've found that the best way to decrease multi-chapter update problems is to post a chapter once a week, which works really well because your not overloading your computer or the site with too much information all in one go (if you consider how many new chapters/stories appear on the site each day) and it gives your readers a chance to respond to what you've written if they want to.

The site is always busy. It's a multi-racial site so people from all over the world are on it for quite a bit. It's a big site with hundreds of emails, stories and accounts all hooked up into it. There's no way a site that big can possibly get that big and not have problems.

at that point facebook would be dead long ago
with a story barely the size of 10kB no matter how many they upload at the same time or how many they read at the same time
it is ridiculous to have that kind of problem

True, but I think it may also be because of the number of staff and maybe it's where the hub of the actual site is. After all, I should imagine that facebook probably has a better hub and staff. Yes, it's ridiculous to have that kind of problem, but I've found that now I have a newer, more modern computer I've had less problems. I also think that facebook probably has better staff to be honest. But it could be any number of reasons.

well everything for that kind of site depend on the server, the better the server the better the site works.

the sad thing is that could be a hacking problem.
lately a lot of site of all kinds have been hacked

anyway the problem seems to be fixed by now anyway ;)

Have you seen it today? What's with the Times New Roman font and all that stuff at the top? I don't know why they can't just leave it alone for a while. What's the saying? If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

They're probably trying to find a way of keeping bugs and hackers out and it's messing with the system. You have that problem when you're trying to put an anti-virus system on a network sometimes. It can really mess up the system if you make a silly mistake.

i've been having trouble updating. i have been trying to post a new chapter and it wont show up to read or even say that i submitted it. when i try to do it again it tells me its a duplicate.
any one else still having problems or is it just me?

I really wouldn't worry about any glitches - the site's free and we're not bombarded by moronic advertisements. That's good enough for me ;)

Dear god, especially the ad part. huddles in a corner and twitches

I hate facebook.

Totally agree with you, facebook sucks!!! Hate it with an absolute passion!!

I love facebook. Without it, I wouldn't be able to communicate with my awesome friends that I made last year, since we all live a few hours apart. We would just lose touch with each other since we don't use Myspace.
My mom is also able to talk to her old friends easier.

I think it's very convenient.

Hmmm... Maybe this is the cause of my PTMFD (Post Traumatic Mysterious Fic Deletion) syndrome. I hadn't really noticed up until now. But when I think about itthere are a few glitches. Still at least- as Adelaide says- there aren't five million dodgy ads to contend with every minute.

I've got 20 stories on ff.net, quite a few of them multi-chapter and I've hardly ever had a problem with the site, only once has the Document Manager not worked because apparently it was down, I went back a few hours later and it was fixed and I was able to upload. Apart from that, I've never had any problems. Though I think sometimes it does trip up because it is used by so many people and must get very busy at times, but I think the minor infrequent glitches are worth it, for the amount of entertainment I get out of it, both from writing and reading.

Facebook has officially died. It's been glitching now for weeks.

I had problems uploading a oneshot once. It was there the next day though.

Yeah, they are 'actively refurbishing the site' so a ton of links don't work and you have to manually find things. Also, my 'edit/preview' button doesn't work so I can't change things once they're up, or my profile. It's annoying, but hopefully it'll be better when they're done ^-^

I rarely have problems with ff.net when it comes to uploading stories. (Only once has it given me any trouble at all come to think of it.) I have had more problems accessing stories though.
