Your First Fanfic (280)

Same deal as it was the first time; what was your first fanfic about, and how has your writing changed since then?

Again, mine was an incredibly short, incredibly angsty, and incredibly mediore Halo fic about Linda. My writing has changed in that I don't like to write about angst anymore. :)

My first fanfic was a dragonball z fanfic but it is so bad! Hihi... I wrote it when I was 12. The first fic I posted is a Yu-Gi-Oh fanfic called Seto's Girl. Back then I was really proud of that story, but now I feel kinda stupid because of my many spelling and grammar mistakes and the fact that my OC is really a Mary-Sue. The weirdest thing is that people are still adding this story to their favorites.

Sorry about the double post! Something is wrong with this computer!

My first fic was a Dramione shipment, and I'm still rather proud, mostly because it's the one story I've completed, and not left as a one-shot. Wondrous. However, it was born of high school drama, so to normal humans it's really not that special xD

234 Name: o.o : 2010-11-18 17:39 ID:ccclyt4D

My first fanfict wasn't ever really typed up. It was a collab that started as a joke between friends in the form of notes being passed in classes. Somehow it obtained it's own life and what started as a few lines turned into whole paragraghs and then pages. It was Ruroni Kenshin and our two OCs kidnaping poor Kenshin and Sano against their will. XD Despite the less than serious plot, and some of the obvious crazyness, it turned out quite beautiful... if not a little crack filled.

My first fanfic which I just started like two months ago I think is ok so far. Its not very original. I wanted to start slow considering I find my self to be a terrible writer most of the time and did a Harry Potter gets sent the 7th book and people read it thing. But then the other night I had the urge to write and ended up with a one-shot with a female Harry loving Fred and then ending it with Suicide. When I finished I couldn't figure out why I was writing something so depressing when I was the happiest I've been in years ohh well i guess

241 Name: Maya : 2010-11-25 22:26 ID:spTIVLvS

My first fanfiction was Fullmetal Alchemist, completely just a random whim I had once in the middle of the night, and very disjointed. It's a one-shot, but it really started me off on the track to where I am now. I re-read it the other day, though, and it's so different from my newer writing that I couldn't bear the thought of changing it. It's neat looking back!

my first fanfic is still in progress and i am having difficulties making the chapters and it is not so bad. it is a Vampire Knight and Inuyasha crossover, Takumi and Kagome couple. it was one of the stories i wrote for months and still is writing.

243 Name: Mungetsu : 2010-11-28 15:18 ID:e6lEKeHM

My first fanfic isn't on fanfiction.net... It was a Mario fic, posted on lemmykoopa.com. My grammar was a little off, and the chapters were so short. Lacked description too. T_T I wish I had the time to revise it. It was suppposed to be at least eight chapters long, but I got off track and just stopped completely at chapter 3. Now my chapters are longer and my grammar's almost perfect. Still need to work on the description, though....

Uh... It was, "Paper Mario and the Princess of Light" by my lk username, "someone else". Haha. It was about... Mario and new friends collecting pieces of the light brooch to awaken the princess of light. I wonder if I've got any notes on it stored away...

Well my frist was a narto oc story. My character was in squad 7 and I was basically writing her, into their story. Now I have my very own ideas and there is alot more romance. And thanks to my fanfiction.net friend I have this awesome bullention board to come to. Thanks Yoshino in the Moonlight3. Also mind my spelling, there's a reason I write on nothing, but word all the time.

My first story was a really depressing and morally questionable. Not only was a Naruto 'fic (which i don't do anymore), it was a oneshot (which I was happy about), basically porn without plot (which I was pretty proud of), date rape (shame), and I've headily edited it every couple of years. But, for having written it when I was fourteen, I think it was pretty good and I still have it up on my FF account.

249 Name: BriiDream : 2010-12-10 12:51 ID:At+Tef82

My very first fanfic ever that was not posted online was an All Grown Up 'summarize all the events to avoid dialogue' thing. I never finished it. It focused heavily upon my OCs (a big subplot was the main OC's developing crush on his younger half-sister's older stepsister).

My first posted fanfic was just a poem. It didn't keep its original meaning since I took it out of a multichapter fanfic I had no plans of posting once I stripped another poem out for personal use (yes, I wrote a Naruto fanfic where many of the characters were poets).

I am quite new in fanfiction (started reading fanfics from Feb this year) and have only written a single fic (posted it in august probably). After posting i re-read the oneshot for the umpteenth time and found it quite childish and stupid. The sentences didn't come out well enough and the whole storyline seemed rushed as if i wanted to finish it as quickly as possible.
This and the fact that my exams are approaching has forced me to stop any attempt to write more in the near future.
So, presently i am reading fics and am active on fanbbs.

252 Name: Kage666 : 2010-12-14 23:12 ID:YhCA1hu3

My first story was about Naruto getting raped by Harry Potter and then Orochimaru kills then for their angst. Truthfully, my writing was horrible, and so was my grammar; it was all over the place that I just had to erase the story due to its suck - ish. Other than that, I dont make stories as I used to. I had a few ideas as to what I want to happen but then as I grew; I lose inspiration to continue it cause I just don't want to.

P.s.- No, it, first story, was not a Yaoi.

253 Name: Bozphin : 2010-12-16 10:31 ID:LeDkre9M

My first story on Fanfiction.net was a Harry Potter Fanfic. It was actually not that bad except for my grammer and a few spelling errors. I admit as well that I did sort of make my OC sort of mary sueish. She is Harrys twin sister named Rose. I did get a lot of good reviews on it though, and actually ended up making a sequel.

I'd say I've learned to review my writing before posting. That was my big problem. And sometimes I try to go out of my comfort zone to make things more dramatic. I'm not much of a sexual writer, but I love the romance XD.

Funny thing is that I never used to like writing. Now I love it.

My first was a Shaman King fic. I'm not even done with it- I'm so lazy :P

It's a story of an OC... Sometimes it's hard to get people really interested in the character... Thankfully that Mary Sue Test said that she could or could not be a Mary Sue. It could go either way.
I just hope people dont think of her as a Mary Sue... She's much less of one than my other characters...

I think I've gooten a LOT better at writing... I look at my first chapter of my story sometimes and I see tons of things that need to be fixed/rewitten...

256 Name: C : 2010-12-20 11:45 ID:oTckCRq8

My first story was a series of Dragon Ball Z oneshots. They were extremely short stories ranging from 200 to 700 words and they're still pretty popular, which boggles my mind, because I think my writing has gotten a lot better since then, but then I go back and read them and I guess their childishness is just so much better compared to my more mature stuff.

I think my word choice and grammar has improved since then, but I guess it's still just a cute and childish sort of thing.

Mine was some really long Bionicle fanfic which took up almost an entire notebook and I wrote it between 4th and 5th grade. It had zillions of plot holes, terrible OC's, the main character's sister was a Mary Sue, and the humor was mainly random slapstick.

Thankfully, I'm a lot better now. :D

258 Name: Tiffany Li : 2010-12-20 16:09 ID:K44ld6Lo

My first fanfic was a Maximum Ride story named Muted. It was finished a few months after it was started with a total of 64 chapters. There are a few holes and the grammar isn't the best, but I'm just glad that a) it was so popular and b) I finished such a big project.

259 Name: TomoNeko : 2010-12-20 16:55 ID:ciTikB94

My first fan-fiction that I remember was a take on why I thought Sasuke didn't like sweets, written back in '08. Just something cute and slightly Itasasu >3

I've gotten so much more descriptive then I was before. I used to just right what they were saying and that would be it. Not I actually give the characters more presence and emotions. And I also describe where they are now too~ ^^; (my grammer and spelling have probably improved too... :3)

260 Name: NamineInWonderland : 2010-12-21 12:51 ID:BD9prCft

Oh my. o.O My first fanfic: The Sasuke & Sakura Story. And it actually wasn't all that bad for a beginner. It has nine chapters and got like 26 reviews. Like I said, not all that bad for a beginner.

But now, I'm so much more descriptive, so much more creative. My imagination has grown to so much more than that first story. But still, I wouldn't change The Sasuke & Sakura Sotry even if you paid me a million bucks. :]

262 Name: Gabi1199 : 2010-12-21 19:51 ID:NB57amv9

ummm, mine was a rurouni kenshin. It was actually a really disturbing nightmare I had taking shape as a fanfic...yeah between the late night chocolate binges and a session of hating on Twilight I ended up with...well...something that dances the line between cliche angst and romance in which both characters would rather claw thier own eyes out than actually be involved...yup that about sums it up. To be kind it's too fast paced.

263 Name: hubbabubba.ouch : 2010-12-24 06:04 ID:sjv9+bDV

My first fanfic was a Sonny with a Chance fic. So Random! was celebrating a third season and Chad wanted to see what they actually did at parties. Baiscally, Chad saves Sonny's life and they kiss.
My writing has gotton longer, my spelling and grammer have inproved and my characters are getting more realistic and not random things popping in there heads.

First time here on this site.

Lets see, the first fanfiction I ever wrote was a short story about Kirby that I wrote when I was ten years old. Some slop about an alien who could mimic other's appearances, and Kirby and Gooey (not a fancharacter surprisingly, instead a minor character from Kirby's Dreamland 3) had to travel across Dreamland to find him.

First fanfiction I ever put online at the fanfiction.net site was an absolutely horrible Sonic story that featured the worst Sonic fan characters ever. Thank god my old shit is no longer online. I've since replaced it with new, actually entertaining shit.

266 Name: Tea Egg : 2011-01-18 23:42 ID:UwYBWg64

Was a terrible, terrible .Hack story that revolved around a girl that had been trapped in The World following her defeat at the hands of an NPC. . . Or something. I wrote it when I was eleven on animespiral, and it had some potential, but was bad because 11-year old me wrote it. Surprisingly enough, she wasn't paired with any of the main characters. Ever. It also remained unfinished due to it becoming Old Shame.

267 Name: Lady1Venus : 2011-03-12 12:30 ID:JDJYW79m

My very first fanfic was with Sailor Moon. "Return of the Negaverse" I wrote the story on paper in 1997 - 1999 and then in 2001 I typed it up on the computer and have been writing ever since.

268 Name: DBI7853 : 2011-03-12 12:55 ID:/H3RA6Sv

My first Fanfic was The Sky Bearer, which got 23 reviews for twelve chapters. Although right now, I'm rewriting it because I put out a sequeal and it isn't going so smoothly like I want it.

269 Name: Piccylo : 2011-03-13 04:56 ID:tCWMchCV

My VERY first fanfic was a Power Rangers one back in the primary grades of elementary school. They fought a monster made of mirrors. There was some sort of snappy remark about 7-years-of-bad-luck in there. I wrote it on paper and some of my friends read it and they said it was good.

Ahhh, childhood.

270 Name: Tail Kinker◆G7bnjqxQ1g : 2011-03-13 18:16 ID:p8Mb4His

My first fanfic was Macross 1/2. Took me forever to complete it. It makes an interesting read, though, because it took me almost ten years, off and on, to complete it, and you can see my writing improving over time. :)

271 Name: AkitaFallow : 2011-03-13 20:08 ID:hSy13/WL

My first fanfic... Oh god. It was a Fullmetal Alchemist OC fic where a thief girl from London got thrown into the FMA world by a nefarious plot that had to do with her alter's death and said alter's father's ambitious (coughevilcough) goals.

It died after about seven chapters. There was no goal in sight, my OC was turning into a Mary Sue, and I had no explanation for the knowledge of alchemy/the Gate that the alter's father's alter had in London.

Yes, confusing. I thought so too. It is now discontinued, though I don't quite have the heart to take it down completely.

Thankfully, my recent exploits are much better, because I am no longer a 14-year-old fanfiction newbie. But even one of my fics that has been going on for a good four years now has changed in style. I notice that I have a much more literary and unique style now, rather than "This happened. Then this. This is what they thought." I like to drop hints and keep my readers guessing now. ;)

272 Name: J.E.McCormickGal : 2011-03-22 13:08 ID:OWZmPzl8

My first fic that I posted was a South Park oneshot which actually involved an OC (though I hoped that, without being given a name, she could possibly be a character if someone wished to see her that way).
When I read it back, I guess it's not so bad, but in the near-year since I wrote it I think my writing style has developed and improved. I still look back on some of my fics and cringe, but I must say I think most of mien are now by comparison, good.

273 Name: FluffyBunnies : 2011-03-22 13:22 ID:py7aqrhK

First....? I have NO idea....

Either my Gundam Seed Destiny or FFVII one...I forgot the dates when I started each. ;P

Well, when I look back, they both seem pretty bad when in comparasion to how I write now. I can't say I'm the worst writer, nor am I the best, but I have improved. Now, when I look back, there's so many....errors and grammar mistakes...typos and so forth. I'm too lazy to go back and fix them though. Oh well.

They were both about OC's, and I still write about OC's, just because I find listing off my own character a much better twist...plus, I can breathe a little life to my characters.

Fun.

My very, very, very first fanfic . . . I can't even remember. I know it was Danny Phantom related, but I can't remember what it was about.

The story I count as my first would have to be Day of Paranormal Silence, seeing as it's the first one I was brave enough to post. I was so proud of getting 18 reviews on that, despite the fact that I absolutely hate the way I wrote it. It was the Danny Phantom characters doing the Day of Silence, and it ended up being DannyDash.

Over time . . . I like to think I've gotten better. I went from third-person to first-person, and now I'm experimenting with a sort of detached centralized third-person. I like to think I've got the characters a little more like themselves than I used to, but not by much.

Yeah. Let's all just keep evolving, hmm?

My first fic was the first story I ever wrote (at the tender age of 7) so of course there was no commas, periods, quotation marks, comma splices, correct spelling... the list goes on, it was a truly devastating Dragonball Z fanfic that's plot consisted of my sisters and I fighting the the DBZ cast against a new evil(I believe I was going with demons).

...I'm fond of hoping that I have made significant progress since that time.

x3 I think I hurt my brain remembering that fic... it was so awful. I wish I still had the file ;.; feels nostalgic

277 Name: Uzuki : 2011-03-30 13:56 ID:gdjipO9Y

Well, my first fanfic that I ever published to FF.Net would have to be The Legend of Zelda: Time Gate, which I first published February 2nd, 2010, and finished October 16th, 2010. I'm now working on the second book, The Adult Chapters. Now, that's the first fanfiction that I published, but the first fanfiction that I ever came up with is The Legend of Zelda: Fall of the Fairies, a Zelda/Tales of Symphonia crossover. Then I created the second book, Chapter of the Aeons, which brought in Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy into the story, and then the third book, Rise of the Demons, finished the story. I eventually cancelled though for some reason that I don't really remember all that well X3 So I worked mainly on Time Gate, which was to be a pre-story to Fall of the Fairies, but ended up being the main story in the end.

I was writing fanfiction almost a decade before I knew that there was such a thing - my first fanfic ever was an Enid Blyton story called "Five Have a Very Merry Christmas". The plot: the Famous Five exchange greeting cards, have a snowball fight and fall down a chimney. xD I was very young, don't judge. In subsequent years I can also remember writing Pokémon fanfic and Harry Potter fanfic starring my own OC. I am so glad that I didn't know internet fanfiction was a thing until I was in my mid-teens. My first works on Fanfiction.net were Rurouni Kenshin one-shots, published in 2005. These days I don't really write for that fandom, although I really ought to go back and finish off some of my old works.
