Here's a thought exercise for you guys:

As it is said in Ecclesiastes 1: 9

That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.

Now, with this said, what makes something original? Discuss.

Taking that which is old, and tricking people (perhaps including oneself) into thinking it's new.

There really is nothing new. The only way for originality is to put a new spin on real life situations or taking an idea, tweaking it a small bit and calling it your own. You can also call something 'original' if you mash multiple things together to create something new. We are not original creations, though, and therefore we are not exactly original with our ideas. We think we are very creative, but not actually. We make things that are not original, but are unique. We are inspired by the things around us and therefore creat from that inspiration.

Gosh, I'm not sure where to ponder the definition of originality now or to actually talk about it....
