That introduction was terrible and missed out vital information.
Do over?

Children, sort out our Groupaversary and surrounding dates.
I wanna know the hip haps for the 14th, 21st and 28th. Poor fairylights is raring to go with no set in stone plans.

3 Name: TV Geek : 2010-11-05 11:00 ID:kFfEM84X

Okay, I didn't see an obscene problem with Scourge's first thread, but ok, here's what I think about the three dates you've mentioned. Rather than in intro, I'm deciding to jump straight in.

14th:
I don't know what's happening, but I'm perfectly willing to show up for any meeting of any size. Anyone else capable of being there? I don't think enchantedsleeper can, but I don't know about anyone else. So, could all individuals involved please supply any relevant information? As far as I'm aware, it should be happening at the Starbucks just off Tottenham Court Road, round the corner from the Dominion Theatre at around 2:00pm-ish.

21st: (Or Groupaversary)
I don't know the full list of who can make it, but it's a good amount of time away so that hopefully most people should be able to arrange to do it. I'm going to paste the schedule Holden wrote in the previous thread, simply because it made so much sense. I'm hoping you don't mind, Holden.

-Either the standard Starbucks or the Nero on Goodge St.. for that authentic feel.
-Followed by a geek out in Forbidden Planet or similar
-Japanese at Wagamama? or Pizza?
-Some sort of fan fiction themed present.. a little drabble for each person if you've got time.. or the classic 15 word story?

As far as Groupaversaries go, I think this sounds perfect, and personally, I'd like to try Japanese food, never had it before, and I know I'll try to see what I can do present-wise. Also, I'm in favour of having a look at the Cafe Nero where it all started so long ago, if that's okay with the rest of you.

28th:
I have no idea. I think I read in the previous thread there was talk of introducing Fairylights this week. I'm totally up for it, assuming it happens here and not on the 14th. I really want to meet her.

So, a few basic rules of the meetings.

  • They take place in the Starbucks I mentioned above unless otherwise stated.
  • Normally they begin at around 2:00pm, with most people arriving by around 3:00pm (or later if necessary).
  • Anyone of any age is welcome, but we do advise that if someone particularly young were to come along that they make sure an adult at least knows where they are. (If an adult wants to go to the meetings with them, that is of course completely fine with us.)
  • A meeting will go on for as long as it needs to. Or until we get kicked out, whichever comes first. (Yes, this rule was inspired by Fight Club.)
  • Any level of geekiness is allowed.

I can't think of any more rules. If anyone has any questions, please ask them. If you need any more information we will race to see who can get it posted first. Well, maybe not all of us, but I might.

TVGeek, your post was brilliantly informative.

And I'm taking it upon myself to announce this week marks the return of the blog! I shall begin updating again, regular meetings and fun times.

well I can make the 14th, SOTG can too and you, shall we introduce her this week, and then see what she can do, and see her on the 28th and so on from then?

As for Groupaversary: Nero would be nice, but it closes at like 6.

So VOTE NOW. I wanna know what EVERYONE wants.

5 Name: TV Geek : 2010-11-05 13:23 ID:kFfEM84X

HoldenCaulfield, thank you. I had heard that Nero closes early, but I thought that that wouldn't be much of a problem, as there could be a chance that we might move on to Forbidden Planet, then a restaurant. So we'll probably be long gone by the time it closes, and then if we want coffee/hot chocolate later on, we know a little place that stays open till 10:00pm that we may have been to once or twice.

Happy Guy Fawkes Night guys!

6 Name: tearthepetals : 2010-11-05 15:17 ID:H8vVX06m

I can make the 14th and the 21st but maybe not the 28th (family stuff- my sister's birthday is the day before) :) want to meet fairylights! (In an entirely non-creepy we-need-more-members way)

As for the Groupaversary, I'm up for whatever but Wagamama rather than Pizza Hut, please? Nero would be nice, does everyone know how to get there? (By everyone I mean TVG, as EnSle has Rayo to take her)

I don't get the fanfic present bit, separate drabbles for each person? Our own fandom, yes? Can I just write a House of Oxfam tale centred on each of you? (Scratch that, I am mentally doing that anyway) Can the Closet of Doom (tm) be mentioned, for old time's sake? SORRY

So, yeah to meetings.

7 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-11-05 15:27 ID:+cl6yu3/

>>6 I'm so glad you mentioned House of Oxfam.. because that's exactly what I was going for. Brilliance.

Shall we meet F.L on the 14th, and then see what other dates she can do after the 21st?

So.. 3 votes for Waga's, Nero's and a bit of F.P? It should be a good 'un!

8 Name: tearthepetals : 2010-11-05 15:40 ID:H8vVX06m

Cool cool, tell Scourage not to slap me when he reads the one I'm writing for him. IT HAD TO BE WRITTEN! Can you post all the fics on the blog afters, so they are forever on the interwebs, please?

9 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-11-06 03:47 ID:Q79boLek

Ooh, lots of posts. Okay. Reply time!

>>2 I know what Abbie means, we should really have at least a link to the blog in the first post of this new thread if not also a mention of where and when we normally hold meetings. Apart from that it's fine.

House of Oxfam! What an awesome idea. I can definitely see myself writing something of that ilk. And yep, the plan for the Groupaversary sounds good to me; add my vote to that. I mentioned it to Rayo, he says he'll post soon, and he's also gonna contact Lin Waddell to see if he's free. (Which I really hope he is because we want everyone to be able to make the anniversary).

I think that's all!

10 Name: TV Geek : 2010-11-06 09:51 ID:kFfEM84X

>>6 While I would like to go to Nero instead of Starbucks, I have no clue where it is.

I get why House of Oxfam works, but I don't really know what it is I'm going to end up doing. Stand by to be confused at the Groupaversary.

And I know that no one's going to be there on the 7th, but I'm 'Bucks-bound anyway. I need a day of sitting somewhere familiar surrounded by strangers. Does anyone else get that?

>>11 Thanks, I can probably manage that, and if not I can always txt/phone you if I really need the help, right?

Also, I've worked out what I'm doing present-wise. It probably won't involve House of Oxfam, but I will be using the 'Closet of Doom' idea, only it will have nothing to do with Scourge, I think he's had enough torment where that's concerned. But I'm not saying anything more on that until it's been written.

See you all on Sunday.

Guisez...

Can someone put up a list of key HoO elements for me? This thing needs to be canon!

19 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-11-08 10:12 ID:BcfvSjLU

>>17 LOL! XD

>>18 Actually I really need one of those. I wasn't around for its original creation after all. I only remember about my own squirrel army and ability to shoot meteors, TVG's ability to summon trains, Helen's power of Cthulu, and of course SotG's Closet.

20 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-11-08 10:13 ID:BcfvSjLU

Oh, and the fact that the members of the Harry Potter books all died in various gory fashions, but I can't remember how.

21 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-11-08 11:09 ID:R33Tl9rJ

>>19

This is odd, because I was there for the original conception and none of that was included.

OH MY DAYS

All I remember was I was the inappropriate sex ed. teacher.

22 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-11-08 11:20 ID:Q79boLek

>>21 Yes, because this is all stuff that was made up afterwards, mostly during that meal at Pizza Hut after the... second meeting? which actually you weren't there for because you had to leave early. I remember us discussing this before on MSN, about the "original" versus the "new" House of Oxfam, and whether that stuff counts as canon, but the problem is that if it doesn't then TVG and I don't exist at all in the HoO universe because we hadn't joined the group by then.

23 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-11-08 11:26 ID:R33Tl9rJ

>>22 Well it's canon, as it was discussed in a large group.. it's just like Chapter 2 of the manga right?

But this does not stop the need for some variety of list with key points.

24 Name: TV Geek : 2010-11-08 11:49 ID:kFfEM84X

Hmm, I can't really remember much about HoO at all, that's why I wasn't going to use it, just borrow the Closet idea and work with it in my own way.

Imagine how much sense all this must make to prospective new members reading the thread for the first time. Oh dear.

25 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-11-08 12:11 ID:Q79boLek

>>23 :3 Very true. Unfortunately, I've volunteered all the information I can remember myself. It seems like it's down to TTP, Rayo and SoTG to fill in the rest of the blanks if they can.

Haha XD

31 Name: Scourgeofthegalaxy : 2010-11-09 16:15 ID:u554WVZp

Hey, they costlated with no influence from me or the pheremones I sprayed on them...

Why a closet? Why not a laboratory of bizarre?

:(

32 Name: tearthepetals : 2010-11-09 16:50 ID:EamAjPkp

Hmmm, elements of HoO
-Closet of Doom (and it has to be a closet, because you're only statutory-raping people, not performing experiments on them)
-Scourge was the love child of Molly Weasley and Gilderoy Lockhart, was not aware of this so had a thing with Ginbangers.
-The common room was like a weird Austin-Powersesque jazz club, where the firsties had to mix us drinks
-The coat of arms had a squirrel on it.
-H.Caulfield could make people's heads 'splode by saying "blah, blah, blah"
-I'm pretty sure she was our Head of House as well, and taught Muggle Studies, maybe.
-The name (suggested by me) was originally House of Awesome until someone (Holden?) said something like "more like house of Oxfam, har har har".
-We were the cats who knew where it was at, to the rest of Hogwarts.
-HoO was the only house you couldn't ask the Hat to put you in, you either had it or you didn't.

That's all I can remember... Though I think I betray the house at some point, 'cause I'm a shit with no sense of loyalty.

33 Name: tearthepetals : 2010-11-09 16:52 ID:EamAjPkp

Also, all of the ficlets (not drabbles, I can't stick to 100 words) I'm writing will turn you all into Sues and Stus and use disgustingly purple prose. So when you read them, be aware that that was deliberate and I'm not that much of a terrible writer.

34 Name: Scourgeofthegalaxy : 2010-11-09 17:05 ID:u554WVZp

I came up with the name... And as said in >>21, Holden is the sex ed teacher.

Also I am disgusted by rape and want nothing to do with the act, whether humerous or not. Sorry, but i've spoken.

35 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-11-09 17:33 ID:Q79boLek

>>32 I knew TTP would come up with the goods XD I actually remember the "blah, blah, blah" thing now.

And statutory rape seems a bit much. What's wrong with just seducing the poor ladies? Scourge's character can be a serial philanderer.

(Reference to Girly, not that anyone will get it X3)

36 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-11-09 17:53 ID:R33Tl9rJ

Hmm, I've not been around for a couple of days, so in reply to something that was posted a bit further back, Sunday 14th, I'M DEFINITELY INTENDING TO BE THERE.

As for my fic present, I think I am going to be making you all at least slightly Sue/Stu-ish, just because it'll be fun as well.

And I can't think of anything more interesting to type, so, see you Sunday those of you that will be present.

50 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-11-12 08:03 ID:R33Tl9rJ

Newbie has confirmed :)
So Sunday will be: Me, Scourge, TVG and TearTP?

51 Name: TV Geek : 2010-11-12 09:30 ID:kFfEM84X

Wonderful, so five people in total. That's good, I know how many seats I need to get reserved. Assuming I get there early enough.

And has anyone noticed how far ahead Team Retard is with the post count already? It's really lucky that I'm not pathetic enough to spam this thread in order to up the count on here. Well, not yet anyway.

52 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-11-13 10:02 ID:Q79boLek

You /still/ want to compete with them over word count? Give it a rest, TVG, it is unquestionably not worth starting that up again. Especially not if it leads to us spamming our own thread, which is really kind of a pointless thing to do. (I only did it last time to put us on even footing with Team Retard). The fact is that there's twice as many of them that post regularly, and they're far more locquacious to boot. It doesn't matter.

53 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-11-13 10:17 ID:Q79boLek

Oh, but speaking of noticing things, this is something that I've been meaning to mention for a while because it strikes me as a little odd. Has anyone else noticed how all the US groups (some of whom seem to be getting going quite nicely now) are not fan/fiction/ groups but fan/comics/ groups? I wonder why that is? Is Yoshino doing that deliberately in order to engineer some variety in the groups under his command? xD Or is there just an abundance of comic artists in the US? From what my friend Sam tells me, the art schools are certainly a lot better than here.

54 Name: TV Geek : 2010-11-14 02:59 ID:kFfEM84X

Lol, no, I've found I am too lazy to bother attempting to catch up with them. They're either too good, or I've finally found people more strange than I can handle.

Ok, meeting today. I'm just about to leave so if anyone sees this in the next couple of hours, see you later. We're meeting normal place, normal time, right? And I need to organise five seats. If any of that is wrong just text me or something. I can't guarantee I'll text back, so sorries in advance.

I sent Lin Waddell a message on Facebook like a week ago or something, but I don't expect a reply from him. What's weird is that with anyone else I'd probably take that personally, but I'm just not.

Oh, a quick note on my fanfic present. I was going to do a one-shot for each of you, but I just won't have the time or energy to get that done in time, so I'll probably end up doing a reasonably lengthy one-shot for the lot of you and hand out copies.

One and all! We will be meeting Sunday 5th at 2pm, Starbuck's New Oxford Street is where the cool kids play Sudoku, be there or be subjected to the power of the love rhombus.

Also. BBS CHRISTMAS is exploding in it's red and white tinsel covered glory on the 20th on December. It's a cert that we will end up in the Blue Posts, but what else shall we do? Suggestions below please!

81 Name: TV Geek : 2010-11-28 16:34 ID:kFfEM84X

>>80 Blue Posts? No idea what that means.

I hope to be able to show up on the 20th, but until I find out what's going on with the whole 'Work' thing (which I'm still in a state of partial disbelief about) I really can't say anything for certain. Which is a shame, because I would really love to do something Xmassy with you. However, Xmas is like the biggest time of the year for shops so... damn. I just have to wait and see.

If I'm off in the afternoon and have enough time to get the train out to see you, then nothing will stop me doing it, even if it is more expensive, but if not, I'll see you some other time? Until then, I'll be seeing you next week anyway. Take care, all of you.

82 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-02 12:22 ID:kFfEM84X

I don't mean to 'Double-Post' but it's been days since my last posting, so I think I'm allowed now.

This Sunday's meeting on the 5th, I know I'll be there, I'm fairly certain Holden and Scourge will be there. Anyone else?

83 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-12-02 14:40 ID://Yv+M8n

I'll be leaving at about 6ish, as I've got a work Christmas party to go to, us booksellers know how to party.

84 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-12-03 07:29 ID:/wcWDIEs

Scrap that.
See you guys for the Christmas party.

Which needs to be arranged.

85 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-12-03 16:32 ID:8sl89+ya

Weekend of the 11th/12th?

86 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-03 18:23 ID:kFfEM84X

I have no plans on those days at present. Can't speak for anyone else though.

And what's this about a Christmas party? Is that what is supposed to be happening on the 20th? Damnit, I look really really hard to get a job and then it has the potential to take all kinds of fun away from me!

Ugh, I'll see whoever I see this weekend. Take care people-shaped-thingy-bobs.

87 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-12-04 02:30 ID:iE7GxjOe

weekend of the 11/12th has been pre-agreed as a week off.
The 20th is the Christmas 'party' so suggestions for events please.

88 Name: Tearthepetals : 2010-12-04 11:19 ID:FWy4bLfP

So are we still meeting tomorrow? Because if Holden isn't coming then Scourge probably won't. Also, I have an awful cold so might not make it anyway.

As for the xmas party, provided everyone can make it, meet at 'bucks and then posts? Or we could meet at troc and make our way to posts via forbidden planet? Maybe get some food on the way if people can afford it.

89 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-04 12:07 ID:kFfEM84X

Well, I'm up for a meeting. But if it's just TTP and me, well, it won't last very long. What's going on with everyone else?

90 Name: tearthepetals : 2010-12-04 12:17 ID:cY+NQqDN

You make me sound so awful! But yeah, it really won't, given my attention span. But I have Buffy sadness to share with you, missy.

91 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-04 14:59 ID:kFfEM84X

I didn't mean you were awful, you know that, but we both know what happens when we show up and no one else does.

Really? Buffy sadness? Any specific type of Buffy sadness?

Okay, I'll go along to Starbucks tomorrow. I had thought that there would be a meeting, so if anyone else wants to be there, that'll be great, if not, well, next weekend?

92 Name: tearthepetals : 2010-12-04 17:35 ID:cY+NQqDN

I probably won't, given that I'm diseased.

GILES BEING DEAD, IS THE BUFFY SADNESS.

Have fun tomorrow

>>88 Posts? Blue Posts? What is this thing you guys keep talking about Dx pls expln.

94 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-04 18:40 ID:kFfEM84X

>>93Yeah, I don't get it either. What Posts? I've asked for explantion but I haven't gotten one either.

>>92 And you CAN'T say something like that! Wtf?

95 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-04 19:24 ID:kFfEM84X

Erm, guys, I have an announcement.

I have a friend who's currently at university and will be home for the Christmas break. He's well clued up on fanfic, and I suggested he come along to a meeting, probably some time after Christmas. We've spoken about it and he's definitely interested in see what all the hype is about. (Yes, I've generated hype, there were cookies.)

So, his name's Spellspinner777 (we don't use our real names, so I won't be giving you his one here either) he's a year younger than me, and he's into many fandoms so I'm sure there will be tons to discuss. Other than that, he's just an epically awesome person, and I'm sure that when a meeting can be arranged that suits all our schedules, it'll be a great one.

So, I know you'll make him feel very welcome. I'll try to keep both sides updated as soon as I have information to update with. I told him about this site, so let's just see how things pan out, shall we? Any questions?

96 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-12-05 13:15 ID:YP/9w+Sr

Nope, and well done for bringing a new person into this ^^ I haven't managed to dupe any of my friends into coming yet, though I've tried my best...

97 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-05 14:54 ID:kFfEM84X

lols, well this friend is generally very open about meeting new people anyway, we were talking, and it clicked in my mind that he might enjoy meeting all of you, so I asked him, and if he can make it, he's interested.

Anyway, see you when possible.

98 Name: Scourgeofthegalaxy : 2010-12-05 21:18 ID:kC1R9FvF

We all know what happens when I bring my friends. They turn up when i'm not there and slander me.

Good job, TVG. I just hope this person's into Halo, Gainax Studios and Ranma, in no particular order.

Really. In no particular order. Nobody believes me on that, do they?

99 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-12-06 05:51 ID:gMklhb4w

You are all shit.

The Blue Posts is a delightful little pub.

So, Christmas: meet at Starbucks, journey via Forbidden Planet to somewhere delicious to eat, chillax, have a glass of wine/lemonade, end up at the Blue Posts.

Now, where do you want to eat? Carrlucios for some delicious Italian? Wagamama's for Japanese. Leon for some cheeky moroccan, the real greek for gorgeous greek meze or Bryon for a burger (with veggie option)

Let's have a little vote please? And any suggestions for something fun to do on the day?

100 Name: Tearthepetals : 2010-12-06 12:02 ID:xIZF3+pX

You sound like a bad travel magazine :/
Also, I didn't explain that it was a pub in case we weren't telling them until we were at the door, thus not letting the tee-totalers make excuses.
Finally, I don't care where we eat.

101 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-06 12:42 ID:kFfEM84X

Well, If I can make it there on the day, I'll be up for anything, if not well, keep me in your thoughts I suppose.

As for the pub thing, so long as they don't ID you on the door I'll be fine.

102 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-12-06 13:02 ID:cTOfdMg2

I am a bad travel magazine.
Always.

None of this, I don't care business. Because I'll chose and people will moan.

103 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-06 13:22 ID:kFfEM84X

Ok, I vote that we (if I can make it):

  1. Start at Starbucks
  2. Go on to Forbidden Planet
  3. Italian food is quite appealing to me, I vote we do that.
  4. Go on to the before-mentioned pub. I am a 'Tee-totaler', but I'm not crap enough to make excuses. Besides, pubs should have coke, right?

Damn, I want to be able to go.

>>98 I don't know if he's into those, but I do know that he knows more about games than me. And he should be a bit more pleasant than your mates were when they showed up. Well, he should be sober, for starters, anyway.

104 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-12-06 18:13 ID:hn33yCrQ

>>99 We need to make sure that wherever we eat at isn't too expensive. Most of us don't have a lot of extra money to spend; Wagamama's is on the expensive side and I think some people's wallets took a bit of a hit when we went there for the anniversary, so can we find somewhere that's less expensive to go to this time?

105 Name: Scourgeofthegalaxy : 2010-12-06 19:03 ID:wkzOsrI0

I vote Italian and beer. And lots of it.

106 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-12-07 02:44 ID:Md9RRNHT

>>104 Wagamama's is the cheapest restaurant I know. I may be wrong. But I would check the menu's of all suggested or make your own suggestions.

107 Name: Tearthepetals : 2010-12-07 09:36 ID:/UZHLOJ3

I wouldn't mind mcdonalds or pret, to be honest. And then we'll all have more money to spend on alcohol.

108 Name: Scourgeofthegalaxy : 2010-12-07 09:59 ID:wkzOsrI0

Like.

109 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-12-07 14:14 ID:JCVX46ye

Pret, always.

110 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-09 08:53 ID:kFfEM84X

Just so I'm perfectly clear. There is no meeting this week?

If that's the case odds are I won't be able to see you until after xmas depending on how work works out.

Take care and stuffs.

111 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-12-10 17:15 ID:KZZdtlKE

>>107 Pret sounds great to me~
>>110 Oh no T___T I HOPE YOU CAN COME D:

112 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-10 17:22 ID:kFfEM84X

>>111 Me too, but if my first day will be Saturday 18th I can hardly request the day off on Monday 20th. :(

Ok, see you when I can see you.

113 Name: Rayokarna : 2010-12-10 17:27 ID:FgtcBHw2

Man, only if I had the money for Bryron, love that place.

Anyway, I'll see if I can make it, money is uber tight atm.

114 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2010-12-11 14:13 ID:UI/OPHIR

>>113 Byron is the best, right? But Pret is cheeeaappp, do come!

I need some London time stat after this time in Birmingham.

115 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-12 07:29 ID:kFfEM84X

By Sunday at the latest I should know if I can be there on the 20th. If not, then it'll have to be after xmas, so what kinds of times do people think they'll have free then?

116 Name: tearthepetals : 2010-12-12 14:33 ID:7LBoIXv+

Uhhh, My reliable computer calendar tells me that the sunday after Xmas is two days after New Years (hopefully giving ample time for hangovers to disapate). I can be free then, if I'm given advance warning.

117 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-12 16:34 ID:kFfEM84X

I think I'll have to wait until closer the time to find out when I'm free. Annoyingness.

118 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-12-14 06:58 ID:KZZdtlKE

January 2nd, I can't think of anything that I have going on there... I'm in London for New Year's, so I could just stay a little longer.

119 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-14 15:49 ID:kFfEM84X

I'm a little puzzled at why the Xmas meeting is on a Monday instead of a Sunday. If it were a Sunday I'd probably be able to go without too much confusion. As it is, I really can't, and I didn't catch the reason it was a Monday whenever it was suggested that it should be so.

Answers would be nice. Or maybe just one.

120 Name: Holden Caulfield : 2010-12-16 15:35 ID:JCVX46ye

Raincheck for the 20th. Have a nice Christmas ya'll x

121 Name: Tearthepetals : 2010-12-17 12:42 ID:ys/ByIiN

Boo, you whore.

So if you're not coming, I take it nobody else will bother. So see you people in 2011.

122 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-17 13:14 ID:kFfEM84X

Okay, just so I'm clear, January 2nd is the date we should aim to keep free for fanfic fun?

I kind of need to have a rough idea as soon as possible because I have work to think around and there's that friend of mine I need to inform, and I want the info I give him to be as accurate as possible.

Kthxbai.

123 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-12-17 16:27 ID:KZZdtlKE

>>121 I would, but I have a feeling there'd only be like... three of us anyway. We might as well hold off until after Christmas.

124 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-18 06:25 ID:kFfEM84X

Turns out Monday's completely free for me, so is Sunday and Tuesday. I know we may not get the whole group, but it's been such a while, if anyone wants to meet up on those days I'm game.

125 Name: Tearthepetals : 2010-12-18 07:15 ID:thllzYIU

Anyone wanna do a Sunday meeting tomorrow, then?

126 Name: Holden Caulfield : 2010-12-18 08:06 ID:eA2MpqyC

I shan't be travelling for anything other than work because of the snow, is hellish trying to get around in central.

I'm up for a meeting after Christmas? Likely not to be quite as busy everywhere as well, there appears to be a lot of panic buyers.

Either way, have fun guyssss.

127 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-12-18 15:26 ID:V5nWXGY/

I'm afraid I can't do Sunday; going to a gaming tournament with Rayo :( That's if it's not called off due to snow, and if it is, chances are we won't be going anywhere else either x3

128 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-19 07:59 ID:kFfEM84X

So, how do Monday and Tuesday sound to people then? I know the snow will make existing kind of difficult, but if we have the willpower to overcome that, what's possible to happen?

129 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-21 14:51 ID:kFfEM84X

Okay then, are we going to try to aim for Sunday January 2nd 2011, in our favourite Starbucks then? If that's the case, Merry Xmas and a reasonably happy New Year to all!

130 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-12-24 09:33 ID:UYpaze8y

...."reasonably"?

131 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-24 13:01 ID:kFfEM84X

Wow, not only a post from Rayo, but a triple post at that! It must be Christmas XD

Merry Christmas everyone, hope that you enjoy it. May all your hangovers be gentle xD

136 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-25 12:37 ID:kFfEM84X

>>135 Why yes, definitely sign of Christmas.

And personally, I wish all hangovers to be excruciatingly painful, because I've always found that funny to watch. And because it serves you kind of right.

Oh well, Merry Christmas! :)

137 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-12-25 14:07 ID:UYpaze8y

>>136 Was that really, really necessary?

138 Name: TV Geek : 2010-12-25 15:24 ID:kFfEM84X

>>137 Admittedly, no. But my parents are getting drunk at the moment. Can't help wishing excruciating pain right now. I just can't. Even if that means no one will want to talk to me. Also I'm reading a fic in which people are getting into stupid fights due to consumption of alcohol. #shrugs# The substance just pisses me off because it doesn't matter that I'm not drinking it, there's nothing I can do to escape the effects it has.

I realise I'm bringing xmas down, so I'm gonna shut up now.

Hope you had a nice Christmas and have an awesome New Year.

I can make it, but I can't say keeping an eye on the thread will be easy for me (internet unpredictability problems, long story).

So, anyone else?

142 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2010-12-31 04:58 ID:DHZ5KT1e

I'm afraid I can't come after all :( I have another driving test booked for the 7th, and I need as much time to practice beforehand as I can get, so I'm keeping the days leading up to it clear for that reason.

143 Name: tearthepetals : 2011-01-01 10:11 ID:lkVxmrYq

Thanks ^^ AAAAAHHH SO SOON AAAAAHHHH

145 Name: TV Geek : 2011-01-05 03:08 ID:kFfEM84X

Stressing out about it will do you no good. Just relax, remember everything you've learned about driving, and I'm sure you'll do fine. But try not to act too confident. I heard that too much confidence can count against you. Good luck!

146 Name: TV Geek : 2011-01-06 21:48 ID:kFfEM84X

Just to let you know, in the 'people you met via BBS'-thread, we've started to discuss about possible dates where the Neo Writers can meet Team Retard. After all, summer break's here faster than we think. Could the Neo Writers please respond? =)

148 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2011-01-09 16:03 ID:FQLpuZCP

Let the love that is Holden unite us :)

149 Name: TV Geek : 2011-01-15 08:00 ID:87yWN1yk

Some of you might know this some might not, but my internet at home is gone, and the library computers don't always let me on this site, so if anything meeting-like is discussed, I might be left horribly out of the loop. I'm just saying, please facebook me with details of anything, that seems to work okay from here.

>>148 Holden, as for your post-birthday party meet up idea, I'm game, but I haven't had anything on facebook about it yet. Let me know what the plan is and I'll probably be there. Missed you guys.

Okay, so we've not seen each other since last year. Anyone know when they're likely to be free for a meet up in the future, forseeable or otherwise?

Starting in two weeks I have thing that will probably keep me busy during the week which should last until around March, so weekends will pretty much be it for me.

What about your schedules?

156 Name: Tearthepetals : 2011-01-29 04:41 ID:q2RDvGfA

I live a life of leisure, so just decide a day and I'll come, provided I have no prior engagements.

Tomorrow? I'm free. And I can give you your present before it's lost in the mess on my desk :)

Oh, that would be most cool. Can't wait. The curiosity is killing me, but I'm not going to ask the question I really want to ask.

Damn it, must go now before my head explodes. See you tomorrow, and anyone else who may want to show up. Take care.

161 Name: TV Geek : 2011-02-09 19:11 ID:kFfEM84X

So, last week was a bust, how about this week? I'm free all weekend (as far as I know) so the question is, is anyone else? Anyone at all?

Seriously, not since December has there been a London meet up, that's a little bit sad in my book.

Hello!

Am existing.

Nice to see that this picked up, but how many people meet up regularly so far?

165 Name: TV Geek : 2011-02-14 10:29 ID:kFfEM84X

>>164 Hey there.

There are about 7 of us in the group, and we've been meeting up with a fair level of regularity since about November/December of last year. But that being said, we haven't had a big meeting with everyone there since before Christmas, because some of us have got chaotic stuff going on, for instance, there's one member at university outside of London, and another who has to work full time (or there abouts) on top of studying.

So, we care dearly for one another, but things are a bit mad right now.

Nice to see you exist by the way. If it sounds a bit confusing because we're only up to 165 posts so far and I'm saying we've been doing this over a year, that's because we've already gone though a whole boards' worth of postings. It's still up to be read if you like, just look for 'Anybody near London).

If you want to come to a meeting, we're more than happy to arrange that, we love meeting and welcoming new people to the wonderful world of 'people who know about fanfic in real life'. There are at least two of us who are normally free at weekends.

When we do meet it's normally in the Starbucks just round the corner from the Dominion Theatre and it's pretty much on the doorstep of Tottenham Court Road Station. Oh, and it's normally Sundays that we meet at around 2-3 O'Clock.

If there's anything else at all that you want to know, or even if you just want to chat or something, please, type away to your heart's content.

166 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-02-15 16:08 ID:0JGxI9tU

>>164 A new person! Hi there! :D

Well, TVG has given you pretty much all the information you need, so just type away if you have any questions. We'd love to meet you if you want to come one Sunday :3 I'm sorry we can't promise frequent meetings right now, but yeah, half of us are in education and/or working, I'm currently based in Cambridge and not London, and TVG forgot to mention that one of our members actually lives in Bermuda, so he's only in London at certain times of the year. But for a new member, we would all make a special effort to show up :)

167 Name: ren : 2011-02-16 08:56 ID:+iIuO87K

Cool. Meeting up wouldn't be a problem for me so it's really down to those who'll have to make a bigger effort to travel in.

Can you guys tell me more about what you actually do in these meetings? Is it like reading each other's work or general discussion? I don't write as much but I still read quite a bit. And is everyone here from ffn?

168 Name: TV Geek : 2011-02-16 10:01 ID:kFfEM84X

>>167 Well, what we do is go to the Starbucks we've picked as our meeting place and sit down, talk, drink coffee/hot chocolate or whatever and talk mostly. Sometimes we might go through each others work, if we can remember to bring it.

Yes, I'm pretty sure everyone has a fanfiction.net account, and it doesn't really matter if you don't write much, most of us are lazy at updating, either because we're just lazy people, or because real life is encroaching on fandom activity.

Things might be a bit slow on the meeting front for now, but come March/April when people should have more time off it'll certainly pick up, I think.

So, what fandoms are you into? I'm into Charmed, Buffyverse, Supernatural, Dollhouse a bit of Harry Potter and various films.

169 Name: ren : 2011-02-16 16:15 ID:+iIuO87K

I'm a manga fan but my newer favourite fandoms don't seem to be very popular so it's pretty hard to find any good reads.

It's funny that you mention Harry Potter. I don't usually shuffle through there but I stumbled on a story about a month ago that had me laughing, thinking, "Yes! This is why I read fanfiction!". I think it was called Harry Potter and something Rationality.

The only other one from your list that I've actually watched is Supernatural. I enjoyed watching some of the episodes but it felt off at times. Nothing to do with the plot but more like the style? The music? I dunno but I've had the same problem with other shows from Warner Brothers.

Speaking of films, have either of you watched The King's Speech or Black Swan? Or any interesting films recently, really.

170 Name: Tearthepetals : 2011-02-17 08:14 ID:v70AlkJG

Oh, I love Methods of Rationality! :D
And I've seen both, though Black Swan confused me (and the cinema was full of fifteen year olds who giggled at anything sexual, which was distracting). The King's Speech was just lovely.

171 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-02-17 16:32 ID:iWtTR7Gx

Ooooh, I wanna see The King's Speech! My mum saw it yesterday for her birthday, the lucky thing. I really want to see Black Swan too but my friend who I was gonna go see it with went and bloody watched it online instead for no apparent reason. annoyed

>169 If you want another funny HP fanfic, this one is totally LOL-worthy: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2276820/1/ also this one is a very funny Harry/Ginny fic indeed: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2233533/1/

I have other humorous Harry Potter recommendations from other sites besides FF.net, but I'm too tired to dig them out right now. If you want them though, I'll make the effort :3 OH, but these two are TOO hilarious not to share: http://unknowableroom.org/2479/1 and http://unknowableroom.org/2656/1

:D

172 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-02-17 16:37 ID:iWtTR7Gx

Oh and if you look at the front page of that UnknowableRoom site, SEE IF YOU CAN SPOT ME.

(Using the 'find' feature is cheating x3)

173 Name: Tearthepetals : 2011-02-17 18:20 ID:NcckzIwp

Oh, Dress Without Sleeves! Have you read her Black sisters fic? Someone Black's Guide to Womanhood. 'tis amazing.
WeatherWatch also writes great humour fluff fics, including one based on Texts From Last Night. And I have a major girlcrush on her because she's Australian and refers to Ginny as Ginbangers :D

174 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-02-18 04:18 ID:5h/TWKFD

Ooooh, no I haven't actually, but I ADORE her Peter Pan fanfics. 'Til Mourning' is such a beautiful story. Anyway, I'll definitely check that out :3 OMG, a fic based on TFLN, what a great idea!

175 Name: TV Geek : 2011-02-19 12:21 ID:kFfEM84X

Just so I'm clear, there's no meeting tomorrow, right?

176 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-02-20 17:25 ID:yJpF0X5M

How about we fix something up a bit further on in the future which hopefully most people can come to? I'm free from the 18th March onwards, and I should be in London on the 20th with no pressing engagements, or I can make it down on a weekday probably. How's everyone else fixed?

177 Name: TV Geek : 2011-02-21 04:57 ID:kFfEM84X

That sounds freaking sweet. I might have to do stuff over the next few months that I can't get out of during the week, but weekends I'll certainly be free. When it gets closer the time, obviously, I can say more definitively what's going on. As far as I can tell Sunday 20th March is free as oxygen for me. Nice.

178 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-02-21 17:10 ID:yJpF0X5M

That sounds great then :) I've suddenly remembered, what about Fairylights, the other 'newbie' that I haven't met yet? Someone ought to contact her on FF.net with a prospective date/dates for a meeting to see if she's free to come along. I'd do it myself but it'd be a bit odd coming from a person she's never even heard of, let alone met XD TVG, TTP, can one of you contact her?

179 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-02-21 17:14 ID:yJpF0X5M

Oh yeah, and Rayo says he's happy to come along on the 20th, and he's gonna contact Lin Waddell to find out if he's free.

180 Name: TV Geek : 2011-02-21 17:32 ID:kFfEM84X

Lin Waddell's in the country? I didn't know that, that's why I didn't mention him earlier, could have gotten confusing. Yeah, I'll set about typing something to her soon, if I remember.

181 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-02-21 17:35 ID:yJpF0X5M

Yeah, I didn't know either, but according to Rayo he is or will be around the time that we're planning to meet.

182 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-02-28 07:32 ID:FHMGAEMr

...Huh. A couple of Bulletin Boards appear to have disappeared from this site. And yet I can't for the life of me remember what they were called xD

183 Name: Tearthepetals : 2011-02-28 08:57 ID:/UZHLOJ3

Lobby, introductions and fan-works know-how, I think.

184 Name: TV Geek : 2011-02-28 14:54 ID:kFfEM84X

I think it was Fan Culture and... something or other? Yeah, for someone who spends so much time on here, I fail.

185 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-01 15:17 ID:XFL7YJwM

>>183 Those are the ones! Well remembered xD
>>184 Fan-culture is still there at the bottom if you look :3

Important News: Lin Waddell says he can make it on the 20th :D Have we heard anything from Scourge or Fairylights?

186 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-01 16:43 ID:kFfEM84X

No, nothing from Scourge and Fairylights yet, my hope is fast dwindling.

And the Fan Culture one had been removed, then I came on here today and it was back, peculiar, but at the time of posting my last thing, it was accurate.

Yeah, I spend far too much time on here.

187 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-02 14:43 ID:+f7qUzOx

How odd. :| I guess Yoshino must've been having a clearout.

188 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-04 15:42 ID:kFfEM84X

Just so I'm clear, there's no meeting this week (6th March) or next week (13th) but we are hoping to have a meeting the week after (20th). Am I right?

189 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-05 04:47 ID:pclhOhj+

Yep.

190 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-09 06:16 ID:kFfEM84X

Hmm, it seams that Team Retard has almost lapped us in the 'post race'. Thought it was worth mentioning. No idea why.

191 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-09 14:12 ID:WySWwoLI

xD I know right? This is why I say that it's really not worth bothering to call it a race. In this instance, 'slow and steady' does NOT win by any stretch of the imagination. xD Just let them chatter away and fill up the board with their threads, and we'll stick to our occasional but always 100% meaningful posts. X3

192 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-12 16:43 ID:kFfEM84X

Hello people. I've found a new fanfiction site that I think is worth having a look at. It's called Archive of Our Own. It's a non-profit, non-commercial thing, which means no annoying adverts. It's currently in beta so be forgiving when you see it.

The link to it is: http://archiveofourown.org/

It's got a surprisingly large archive for a beta, give it a go.

193 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-13 15:55 ID:FHt/im4O

Yeah, those adverts on FF.net really tick me off >_< I've added a couple of fics to ArchiveOfOurOwn to see what kind of response they get. One of them got NO reviews on FF.net (and I posted it in a massive fandom! I'm really quite shocked) so I'm hoping to get feedback here instead. I'll probably create a cleaned-up version of my FF.net profile without all the terrible old crap from 2005-2007.

Looking over my FF.net profile, I've realised I haven't updated anything more recently than 2009. Now that's sad. x3

194 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-16 07:50 ID:kFfEM84X

Ok, no one one the thread has mentioned this yet, but it appears to be Birthday Season or something, so I'll just type who's birthday is when here.

Monday 21st March - enchantedsleeper

Thursday 31st March - Me

Sunday 3rD April - TearThePetals

Rayo's, Scourge's and Holden's are all in a seperate part od the year, and I don't know about Lin Waddell's (I'm a terrible friend to him really). So, now we kind of know. Mark your calendars! (I mean, if you want to/can be bothered.)

195 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-16 10:23 ID:vKcGGNc1

Lin's birthday is the 6th June - it's on his Facebook. (I also can't believe I just typed 'Lin Waddell' into Facebook expecting to find him XD)

We should so have a Birthdays meeting sometime in early April to celebrate everyone's birthday together. And have cake :D

196 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-16 15:06 ID:kFfEM84X

Yes, absolutely agreed. I was talking to TearThePetals last night and she suggested a meeting on Saturday the 2nd on April? I've certainly got no plans for that day, but I don't know about anyone else.

So, Anyone Else, what are your thoughts?

197 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-16 16:40 ID:vKcGGNc1

Rayo says: "yeah, sounds alright"

enchanted says: Go for it!! :D

198 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-17 05:59 ID:kFfEM84X

Sweet! See you on Sunday, and then the Saturday after the Saturday after that then.

:)

199 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-18 08:06 ID:qY4AT0fH

Huh. So it seems Yoshino finally got round to adding regional Bulletin Boards, but... what's the point of having a whole board if they've only got one thread each? xD I think it'd be much more sensible to have one for Europe and one for the U.S., or maybe divide the US up into sections. But Ontario and British Columbia? Wut? xD

200 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-18 11:00 ID:kFfEM84X

I've had similar thought to those. There's not much sense in what he's done.

Oh well, roll on Sunday.

201 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-19 04:30 ID:pclhOhj+

I am excite :D

Lin Waddell almost forgot about it but luckily I reminded him x3

202 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-19 04:42 ID:kFfEM84X

W00t!

Erm, just to check, what time do we meet? 2:00pm or is it slightly different this time?

#makes many high pitched noises# Can't believe it's only one more sleep away! I will hug every one of you that turns up, whether you want to be hugged or not!

203 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-19 04:47 ID:pclhOhj+

xD Oh boy.

Yeah, I guess 2pm is good?

204 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-20 06:30 ID:pclhOhj+

Oops, I just saw the time. We may be a little late, but we'll be there soon!

-totally pointless post since you probably can't access this where you are right now-

205 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-20 15:25 ID:kFfEM84X

Yeah, I only just saw that now, at 22:20 at night. I never asked, what was it that made you late anyway?

Well, whatever it was, you got there eventually.

While I'm here, it's your birthday in 1 hours and 40 minutes. HAPPY BIRTHDAY FOR THEN!

(And see you Thursday week, and then Saturday week)

Oh, and can we see if Lin Waddell can make it? If he's busy I completely understand, but can someone (like Rayo, he'll listen to Rayo) at least let him know that there's a special meeting on Saturday 2nd April, that being the Saturday before TearThePetal's birthday. And the first Saturday after my birthday, I think.

Anyway, it's been too long that the Neo Writer's have gone without him present at a meeting, I think we can all agree on that?

I'm also going to attempt to contact my friend SpellSpinner777 and see if he'll be first home from uni at the time, and second able/willing to come to a meeting. I can't guarantee anything, let's just see what can be accomplished.

206 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-20 16:16 ID:qY4AT0fH

Yeah of course, I'll make sure he knows about it. He would have made it today in spite of all his schoolwork but some problematic stuff came up at the last minute. I don't know what exactly, but it sounded bad. :/

207 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-20 16:23 ID:kFfEM84X

Oh, the thought of something that 'sounded bad' is very unsettling. I hope he's okay?

If you find that out you don't have to tell me because of his privacy and all, just try to pass on the message that I hope he's well, his family is well, friends are well. You get where I'm going with this, right? And that I hope to see him at the next meeting.

Also, I just emailed SpellSpinner on facebook a bit earlier asking him to clear his schedule for that day and come along. I have no idea how successful my begging will be, but there's some small sliver of hope, at least, so I'll hang on to that until I have something more to say.

208 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-21 09:16 ID:G/rG2Sbj

Honestly, I hardly know anything myself because Rayo wouldn't tell me, but if he had to cancel on us in order to sort it out then that doesn't bode well, you know?

209 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-21 11:17 ID:kFfEM84X

Exactly, which is why I really hope he's okay.

210 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-22 16:04 ID:tXa91a7U

OMG I WROTE FIC TODAY

FIRST NEW WORK SINCE 2009

OMG

211 Name: Spellspinner : 2011-03-23 09:11 ID:9aCicN39

Hi there!

I am Spellspinner - TV Geeks friend. Aloha! Still new to this site, so just getting to grips really. As for London meet - I will try and make it, but a 26 pound train ticket is something I can't afford at the moment - Especially as I would be back down the next weekend...

But I would definitely be interested in joining you guys soon!!

212 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-24 07:43 ID:kFfEM84X

>>211 Ah, YAY! and I kind of have to apologise.

I didn't know that Easter was as far off as it was, so I thought the meeting on the Saturday after next was going to be the last one in a while, and I though it seemed right-ish that you might be home from uni around then. So, if you can't make it that weekend then there will most probably be others happening later into April.

You remember how prone I was to Epic-Fails like this at school, right? Well, there's been no change, if anything I've gotten worse. Sorry again.

So, if you can't make it to the next meeting, we will be having another, hopefully more than one when things should be more manageable for you.

On the up side, my cat's had her stitches out!

213 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-25 16:01 ID:G/rG2Sbj

>>211 Hi Spellspinner! Nice to hear from you :3 Don't worry about rushing down here, we're not about to go anywhere. xD And ouch, £26 for a train ticket is a lot. I can understand why it's not something you can afford to just casually buy. xD

Okay everyone, the Netherlands group wants us to figure out when we're free. The main time that I have to avoid is the second half of July and August, because that's when my China trip is looking to be. Though I will also have a family holiday at some as-yet-undecided point.

Unfortunately, if this summer is like last summer, then Lin Waddell will be in Bermuda for most of the time and won't get back to England until mid-August sometime. sigh I know it sounds strange to say that summer might not be a good time for this meet after all, but considering the way things are currently shaping up...

214 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-27 13:27 ID:kFfEM84X

Regarding this Saturday, I have a new bat to introduce you to. This one I think is very cute and you'll all probably like it. I'm thinking of deciding upon this one being a girl bat, just to even things up a bit.

So, we'll see you then I suppose, take care all.

215 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-03-27 13:41 ID:G/rG2Sbj

xD You officially collect bats now, don't you?

216 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-28 04:09 ID:kFfEM84X

Maybe. But you'll see it on Thursday, this one's awesomely cute!

217 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2011-03-30 12:25 ID:N6tq2vLd

I spoke to Ben the other day, which reminded me that this page existed.
How are we all?
When are you next meeting up? I shall come regale you all with stories of books and essays, huzzah!

218 Name: Tearthepetals : 2011-03-31 06:50 ID:UaJFMbj0

Well, we are meeting up on Saturday, if you can make it on short notice. I need my smoking buddy back!

219 Name: TV Geek : 2011-03-31 15:20 ID:kFfEM84X

>>217
Yeah, WE MISSED YOU! I did read on Facebook that you might be attending something in Bournemouth on Saturday, which is when our next meeting is scheduled, so I understand if you can't make it. I don't think we've set a date for our next meeting yet, will probably be talking about it on Saturday.

So, with your attendance in mind, is there a particular date/time that you would most likely be able to make it to a meeting? If not, then I suppose either next weekend, or the one after that might be when we do it, but, nothing's set in stone yet.

Anyway, I hope you've been good, or at least not too bad. It has been way too long since you've graced Starbucks with your presence, so please come back, missed you.

Okay, I'll stop typing now.

220 Name: TV Geek : 2011-04-05 09:09 ID:kFfEM84X

So, since my last post was way back on my Birthday, I don't consider this a Double-Post sort of thing.

When do we think the next meeting will be? As far as I know, I'm free this weekend. Don't have a clue about anyone else so, Anyone Else, what are your thoughts on the next meeting and when it should be?

221 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2011-04-05 14:13 ID:UI/OPHIR

I am also free this weekend, as far as I'm aware, but not sure about the money situation. I'm also free every day next week, if we fancy a mid-week coffee etc?

222 Name: Tearthepetals : 2011-04-06 03:35 ID:l08tdc4/

I'm free on Sunday and all of next week.

223 Name: TV Geek : 2011-04-06 03:57 ID:kFfEM84X

I was worried I might have something next week, but it appears I don't. Which is sweet. So, yeah, this weekend and all of next week is free for me. But that still leaves many days to choose from. So I suggest we wait to find out about everyone else's availability before making a decision. Okay?

Okay.

224 Name: Tearthepetals : 2011-04-06 16:16 ID:8FcDzx4b

Wait, have just learnt that next week will be rather busy (seeing friends, being free childcare for my sister, getting my shit together for holiday and my long-awaited hospital appointment) so I can really only do Sunday, apparently I have a life, shockingly!

225 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-04-07 02:44 ID:TUCMCksP

Hi Abbie :3

Hmmmm, unfortunately, this weekend isn't good for me. I can do a few days next week, but if we wanted to pick a time when absolutely everyone can make it, what about the weekend of the 16th/17th? I'm definitely free (unless something comes up between now and then).

226 Name: TV Geek : 2011-04-07 02:45 ID:kFfEM84X

Ah, ok, Sunday it is then, even if it ends up just being us two, I have to give you that book. Which I hope you'll enjoy.

So, anyone else want to come along on Sunday?

227 Name: TV Geek : 2011-04-07 02:49 ID:kFfEM84X

I think she'll be on holiday that weekend, ES, that's what she told me at the last meeting.

Recently my posts have sounded slightly stalkerish, haven't they?

228 Name: Tearthepetals : 2011-04-07 04:26 ID:o0mqnbsE

Lol, that is friendly, not stalker-ish!

229 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-04-07 10:32 ID:TUCMCksP

>>227 Ah, okay. Well, maybe we should just stick to Sunday then? I'm sure you guys will survive without me. x3

230 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2011-04-07 14:40 ID:j7N9JoKQ

So... Can't make it Sunday
Can't make it 16/17..
Hurhurhur. My organisational skills are the bomb.

231 Name: TV Geek : 2011-04-07 15:59 ID:kFfEM84X

>>230 Yes, there's like, explosions going off and everything. Pretty.

Okay, looks like this Sunday will only be me and TTP. Well, I can give you the book at least. Sadly it's not signed by the author because I didn't get to buy it until way after the day where I got the other stuff signed. Yeah, I fail.

Anyway, see you there, possibly.

232 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-04-07 17:12 ID:TUCMCksP

Hmm, well my problem is that after the 20th I'm going back to uni (the 20th is my driving test so the days leading up to it are also out) so weekday meetings are out and I can't guarantee being able to make it down on the weekends either.

But again, if you guys wanna hold a meeting anyway, I'm sure you'll live xD

233 Name: Tearthepetals : 2011-04-08 05:08 ID:ieXN1Otg

Are people free on Monday? Because I could do Monday and get some stuff done on Sunday.

234 Name: TV Geek : 2011-04-08 05:45 ID:kFfEM84X

Yeah, Monday works for me. Hmm, Monday might be better because there might be fewer people in Starbucks that day than there would normally be on a Sunday. COMFIER SEATS! (most likely).

Okay, see you then, with the book.

235 Name: Tearthepetals : 2011-04-10 04:36 ID:4IHyPqvI

Boo, just learnt that I need to go to baby clinic with my sister tomorrow :(
See you when I get back from holiday, I guess.

236 Name: TV Geek : 2011-04-10 09:20 ID:kFfEM84X

Ah, ok. No idea when that will be, my memory fails me. So, take care and have fun.

237 Name: tearthepetals : 2011-04-10 12:42 ID:dJIPvtPW

I get back on the thirtieth so May-time. Though it would be an idea to hold off on a meeting until after everyone else finishes their exams.

238 Name: TV Geek : 2011-04-10 13:23 ID:kFfEM84X

Yeah, I had similar thoughts. Oh well, we'll have to meet when we can meet then, right?

239 Name: TV Geek : 2011-04-21 08:39 ID:kFfEM84X

Hey, guys.

There's some stuff going on on the People You've Met Via BBS thread that sort of needs all of our attention. Regarding the Netherlands people coming here...

So, check it out and respond accordingly. Please.

Thank you.

240 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-04-26 14:18 ID:1suzfIY5

Just did before I saw your post xD

241 Name: TV Geek : 2011-05-15 04:39 ID:kFfEM84X

So June is coming up next month. Who can say when they will be available?

I may have something going on on the Mondays and Tuesdays, other than that I think I should be free.

Anyone else?

242 Name: enchantedsleeper : 2011-05-17 12:57 ID:Y0QR3S2Z

My exams finish on June 8th, though I'm still in Cambridge until the 20th-ish.

243 Name: HoldenCaulfield : 2011-05-17 15:46 ID:JtqVk4Ak

I finish on the 16th of June.
Free until 6pm most days, but am moving house and helping someone else move, so will have to arrange in advance.

244 Name: TV Geek : 2011-05-22 12:05 ID:kFfEM84X

So, a while ago an idea was had about going to the Victoria & Albert museum once everyone's free. But hopefully before all the little schools break up for summer.

So, with the around the 20th being the time that enchantedsleeper gets back from uni it would be unfair to do it until after then, so I'm guessing it'll happen towards the end of June, which means that if we can, we should probably think about talking about this now. That is if we still want to go ahead with this idea.

Also, I'm just assuming that enchantedsleeper is the one who's schoolly stuff ends the latest. If anyone has anything which goes beyond that please say so.

Hey guys, just wanted to update you on something. I spoke to Scourge today at MCM and he said that there's no chance of him typing anything on here, so I'm fairly sure that means he's left the group.

A shame, but at least we know now. Toodles.

Okay, a little update (if anyone's reading this) I spoke to HoldenCaulfield a few days ago and she said she breaks up around the 20th and would be interested in meeting up with us, so we should probably discuss when after the 20th we want to meet so that she gets plenty of notice beforehand.

I'm pretty sure I'm happy with any day that isn't a Monday or Tuesday, other than that I'm not fussed, so what are your preferred dates?

Mmmm, spam.

I've tried to post here multiple times using my phone but it refused to work each time. Hmpf.

So yeah, I should be fine to meet up after the 20th, with the first weekend in July being the exception. See you soon.

Awesomeness, although the second weekend in July, 9-10th is Comic Con, so I'll be doing that. Other than that all should be good.

pokes head out from a pile of exam revision ohai thar.

I still don't know the precise date of my return from Cambridge but it'll be around the 22nd-24th. That's all I know so far.

tearthepetals might be interested to know that I've been using her gel pens to make copious colourful exam notes :D Hey, whatever brightens the chore up a little.

LAST EXAM TOMORROW!!!!!

GOOD LUCK
Also, I now (as of today) have a job, so I don't know what days I'll be available for meetups. BOOOOOOO, WHY CAN'T I BE A LADY OF LEISURE?

#wakes up, empties head of dust cloud#

I'm so happy for you both!

As far as I can tell Mondays and Tuesdays are the only days that are un-possible (I know that's not a real word, I just thought it'd be fun to type). So, let's see how things go and type possible dates when we know what they might be.

Although I must say that HoldenCaulfield (Almost typed her real name for a second there) asked me to send her a message when I found out what the agreed date was because she pretty much said that she won't be checking the BBS anymore and would need to be told more directly what was happening. So I'm just thinking that we need to consider her availability and give her a good amount of prior notice because we're nice friends like that.

So, we don't need to do this right now, but we must work out the date a good while before the it happens and possibly have a couple of back-up dates in case we need to compromise? Sound okay with everyone?

Ooooh, that totally reminds me.

I've been thinking for some time that we ought to switch to using the Facebook group to organise meet-ups. Let's face it, we don't really gain anything from using this thread. The only possible advantage of it is new members and we haven't had any of those who actually came to a meeting for about six months (Fairylights), and none who actually stuck around for a decent amount of time since Jude and Kyle joined. So it's not really worth still using the thread for. The BBS is massively cluttered and annoying to use and (perhaps for that reason) half our members don't even check this thread anyway, so to save us all having to relay messages, why don't we just let Facebook Notifications do it for us? It might actually serve to remind some of our more rarely-sighted members that we still exist.

Plus, what's the point of having a Facebook group when we never use it? x3

All very good points. Remind me what the Facebook group is called again? I haven't actually used and Facebook group in a while, and I think some groups might actually have been deleted because of inactivity. But as far as I know that is just rumour, anyway, a link would rock.

Nevermind the link, found it and was shocked at how easy that was.

So, if Enchantedsleeper is hopefully going to be home by around the 24th, does that mean that the weekend of 25-26th is too soon for a meeting? If it is then we'd have to either have a midweek meeting during the week after that weekend because TearThePetals won't be able to attend the next weekend, and the one after that is Comic Con, so I'll be busy.

So, if we can't do the weekend of 25-26th then I think midweek is the best thing to do, although I can't do Mondays and possibly not Tuesdays either.

What are everyone else's opinions?

Uh, sure.

Just bumping this thread up in case anyone new might be interested. We have a new Facebook group - click my name to go to it!
