you know, I was just trying to have a pleasant chat about the ny anime fest. This was just as a way to find people to meet at that specific convention. I then get a reply saying: "wth is wrong with you there is a thread for conventions about an inch away jesus christ"
some pleasant chat. I am new to this website and I am looking to have pleasant chat. Excuse me for wanting to talk about a specific convention, asshole! If I had a penny for every person as over-reactive as that guy then I would be rich :)
Whoa, an anon insulted you? Get the papers! This is shaping up to be the story of the decade!
I think we can easily tell who's overreacting by noting which one of you two created a new thread to rant about the other.
>>1 Try not to let it get to you personally. We have had a lot of problems on this site with people making loads of stupid threads and basically trolling, so we tend to come down tough on anyone who breaks the rules. It's nothing personal, just keep it in mind. Other than that, welcome.
Whoever insulted you was probably some anti-social nerd king who tries to be cool by insulting people online..or something like that. Also, I like it when people post ranting threads because sometimes I can relate to it and it makes for good venting. And who cares if someone creates a thread just to rant? If you think it's annoying than just ignore it! For God's Sake! it's so simple!!!
Um, I fail to see my hypocrisy, then again, it's hard for people to see the hypocrisy in themselves most of the time anyway so I'm not that different..I guess...?
well, i was mostly referring to people that comment solely to insult the person for something like not looking for a tread before creating a new one, or for ranting about someone who had done that (like in this case). As for people that actually have something productive, interesting, or not totally pointless to say, well, feel free to comment.
for example, >>3 his/her post was pretty much pointless and just sarcastic and slightly rude compared to >>4 who actually had something of interest to say. She was letting him know how the thread works instead of just yelling at Yoko's ignorance for being a new member.
I admit that it did seem hypocritical for me to say that without further explaining. Plus, I could have phrased it differently so it didn't seem like another pointless rant.
Why can't we all just get along?
'Slightly'? Tsk, tsk, must try harder...
Also, on the internet, people can't tell if one is nine, nineteen, or ninety-nine, so people will generally assume one is Old Enough To Know Better when one does something rather stupid. Newbs should be especially careful, because it's impossible to work out someone's age from their writing skill (or lack thereof) these days, and people don't have any other markers to go by. I use peoples' stubbornness as the main age-indicator, but it's not foolproof.
Hmmm, so you gauge a persons age mainly by his/her stubbornness? In that case, what would you guess my age to be? I'm curios.
@Marth- My consolations.
@13- Not very old, but older than some. I'd guess early-mid teens, but I have very little to base a guess on.
hmmmm, that's actually surprisingly accurate.
Is thread supposed to be a Joke or is it just accidental that someone posts a thread about the lack of 'pleasant' chat on the site and starts an 'unpleasant' argument.
The irony of this amuses me
just accidental. I bet this was originally meant to gain support for some fanbbs ettiquette...of course I could be wrong, or just missed the sarcasm somewhere.
>>13 Young enough to misspell 'then' as 'than' and 'curious' as 'curios', at least. :D
(Marth, as always, you are awesome. Between you and Iaccy and Ellipsis I'm not going to have much more room for adoration in my heart, at this rate.)
Word to the wise, OP: if you want pleasant conversation, how about using one of the threads already in existence rather than start your own largely superfluous thread? And then not whine when you're called on it?
