Hi, so there are already a couple of threads concerning beta readers on here. I myself have used quite a lot, and not every one of them were good. There were some who (as I already mentioned in another thread) never let hear of them again, and posted my idea as theirs later on. There are some crappy betas! And whereas in one way I would think it would be nice to mention them so that other writers are warned for them, it somewhat goes against my principles. So, I thought... Why not make a thread about good beta readers instead? Why not list the rather good betas you have had, with some more information about why? Maybe you could mention where this beta is findable and what fandoms he/she betas for. I'm sure a lot of writers can be helped with this!

I have a nice beta, Pianoxforte. I got in contact with her through reviews for my story. I'm not sure she's an official beta but she's betaing my fic 'Mother of my child' in the Dragonball Z fandom.

Also, Shenlong_1 (I think that's her name, shenlong is definitely right) is a good beta. She writes mainly for Gundam Wing but has other fandoms too.

i'm a beta reader. i'd like to think i'm quite good, but i don't know. i mainly beta for Storm Hawks, Doctor Who and D.gray-Man, well those are my main fandoms and i beta for a few other fandoms as well.

Question for all betas:

Have you ever been approached by someone who wants you to beta for them and then doesn't send you anything?

I've been dealing with that lately. I'll probably have to email all my authors today to see what's up. If it's family stuff or a block just being busy, then I don't mind, but I wish they would at least tell me that. Is it so much to ask for an update every now and then?
