sorry. new to this site i have no idea what i'm doing...
That's obvious.
Mmhmm. Try it with the numbers at the top of the keyboard and you'll get capital numbers...
On the whole I dislike cliff hangers (mostly in novels and films.) However, I dislike long winded/meandering endings far more.
Cliffhangers are fine... when they get resolved.
I’m still bitter about the last episode of The Lone Gunmen – and no, Jump the Shark did not provide enough resolution to satisfy me.
LOVE them! Seriously I get ardenline's rushes from them, what's going to happen. exct. Plus this is when I think of my own ways of how it will go, not good as the person writing it, but still. Cliffies are bunnies in disuise until the cliffie is concluded. I know you don't called them Cliffies but I do.
Yeah, I weird. :P
I don't mind cliffhangers, but I hate it when an author says: "Oh guys, it's a cliffhanger, what'll happen next?" etc. when it's blatantly obvious what'll happen next.
As long as the follow up is good, I don't mind cliffhangers...however cliffhangers are all the worst I think if they just end in some tragedy that just ends the whole series (I'M LOOKING AT YOU CODE GEASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
I like cliffhangers as long as they are resolved, and I enjoy leaving cliffhangers in my own stories. Leaving to much happy rainbows and puppies at the end of ever chapter can leave people bored. I find that if I'm never left wondering about anything at the end of a chapter I get bored with it, I want something to bring me back to the story.
Most cliffhangers are bad, and I hate it when people just do it and go "omg wats gonna hapen nxt?!1" or something after it. But if they're done well I enjoy them. It gets annoying when there's a lot of them in just one story, and used too often. One or two used in highly suspenseful moments are fine.
I love doing cliffhangers in my stories, though especially when I'm making it look like A or B might happen, but then at the start of the next chapter the completely unexpected C happens. It really pulls me into stories when other authors do it too, as long as they don't take forever to update.
>>12 Well yeah, some fanfic writers will try to milk the whole 'cliffhanger card' for as much as they can, not realizing it ran dry a few chapters ago. I guess it's about placement, timing and quantity. It can be done very well by some authors and it just butchers the story with others.
I tend to not write cliffhangers, but I will every once in a while. My favorite type of chapter endings are 'WTF' ones, though I don't get to use them a lot.
