I'm in the middle of writing (trying to at least) a Harry/Draco fanfic, where draco is a girl. Set after the 7th book, Bellatrix survives the war, goes to Azkaban and escapes - Draco, terrified of being caught, uses a potion to change his gender and goes back to school under a different persona and of course, Harry falls in love with her.
BUT, this isnt really working somehow! I just cant make it fit in my head...Not entirely sure how to turn that into a story! HELP!!
Sounds like an interesting idea, have you put it up anywhere yet?
I think it would be fun if Harry was suspicious of - or at least curious about - the brand new Slytherin girl. That'll give you an excuse for them to have lots of awkward interaction, with Draco pissy and Harry both nosy and confused.
You'll have to work hard on the gender identity issues in this fic, though!
lol, yay to genderbending! 8D
Assuming that they're attending seventh year in this post-DH fic, I'd assume that people would find it curious that this new chick suddenly popped in during their last year of public education. Although I'd suggest putting in an additional reason for Harry himself to become suspicious/curious/intrigued by the new girl, you MIGHT be able to pull off Harry just being cautious about the possibility of her being some evil witch in disguise (or something else) along those lines) and deciding to keep an eye out for her.
Then there's the whole Draco-suddenly-in-a-girl's-body issue that he's gonna have to go through. Depending on if this potion he took just wears off after a time or he needs to take another potion to change back, he would probably end up having to go through some... girl-only issues along the way. (lol, I can only imagine how he'd feel about having to wear a bra on the first few times!) Then there's just the whole fact that if he really wants to be thorough about being female, he'll have to really concentrate on ACTING like one. And trust me - that can be very difficult (and hilarious if you're aiming for full-on or just partial humor).
And that's all I have for now. :3
Thank you so much to you all!!
Beksta, I started to put it up and I only managed to do the prologue, It's on Fanfiction.net:

ManicalShen, I like this idea quite a lot - The gender identity thing is going to be a major part because eventually Draco, when he/she later falls in love with Harry, has to decide to remain male or female ect...
Naomi Hansen: Yes, it is in seventh year...and yes people would be finding it curious, but there would be some lame excuse for female Draco's presence in the school - I was thinking school transfer, some result from the war?
I love the idea of Harry being suspicious of her, and I was planning to develop this later in the story to Ron's suspicion of her and an argument between harry and Ron when Harry is in love with her, which would make Hermione suspicious of Ron's feelings towards Draco -- much confusion, hope that makes sense.
And yes, the very girls-only issues will be quite amusing...I'm thinking of keeping humour and drama quite separate, so some chapters will be very dramatic and others will be quite light-hearted...'Im thinking of a chapter where Draco thinks he's bleeding to death...or is that too crude? I'm not sure.
And yes, the acting will be quite difficult I know, But it'll be difficult to make it in character if she never slips up and becomes old draco - arousing suspicion in the process.
Any other comments? Thank you sooo much!!!

Welcome. :D
So I'm assuming that you're currently working on this right now? Because you haven't updated since February. :?
I am...but thats how long I've had writers block when it comes to this story
I've had worse. I just scrapped this one fanfic of mine after not writing anything for it for almost a year. :[
