"Foil" definition: A character who by means of contrast (in personality or actions) emphasizes the personality characteristics of another character.
I LOVE using foil characters in stories! I can easily write dialogue for foil characters because they have so much chemistry together.
What are some examples of foil characters that you like? Why do you like them? What are their opposing personalities?
I am going to have to ask you to explain this one more before I can awsner your question...
Okay, I think I get what you're saying. Like opposites attract right?
Rhen and Lars from Aveyond xD
Rhen hates nobles, is (usually) nice, somewhat sarcastic, I dunno, she's just awesome.
Lars IS a noble, yet I think he stated he doesn't like them, he's a brat. Very arrogant, mean to pretty much everyone (at first, he gets nicer later on).
They're just hilarious in the beginning of the game. Always arguing randomly, but they usually figure things out. And Lars actually apologizes (eventually). I dunno, I just think they're adorable and should have more fanfics. Maybe I should write one?
~Chika
Sherlock and Watson, they're pretty different, in some ways. And I mean Sherlock and Watson in any media, the films, the BBC series, the books, any.
Vegita and Goku, those two slayed me as a kid, they were hilarious.
Kakashi and Guy- again, they're just really funny. I weep when I see people pairing them. They aren't cut out for being romantic towards one another, they're relationship in canon was perfect.
Draco and Harry- because of their different ideologies
Draco and Hermione- same reason, pretty much
I would say draco and any of the Weasleys (esp Ron and his mom), but sometimes the Weasleys (well, Ron) are pretty irritating, and I couldn't blame Draco for wanting to kick the shit out of them (mainly Ron) sometimes.
Light and L- these two are great. Like Watson and Holmes they're very different in some ways (like their opinions of justice) but similar in others (their arrogance and ego's).
