I love Harry Potter fanfics!! But some people can spoil them by just doing too much with it or trying to write like J.K. No one can copy her style, its impossible!! But best one i've ever read would have to be Hiding Behind a Mask, i love it and its now finished!!

'Think twice' by an author called 'Soldier 24601'. She is an amazing writer, but unfortunately this story hasn't got many reviews yet, which I find hard to believe. It's by far the best fanfiction I have ever read. It's beautifully written and has a heartbreaking story to it.

I only read Lupin centric Harry Potter stories (well I'll read good Molly stories too, but that’s rare).
Since I neither support, nor particularly like Remus/Sirius (or Lupin/Tonks) that severely limits my options. I generally end up reading Lupin/Snape (it’s the only pairing I can stand, unfortunately it’s hard to find good stories with little or no sex). I'm too fussy about what I read.

@Lupa Dracolis... I read a few after watching 'a very Potter musical' which I remember as being rather good, but I never remember to favourite things.
One of my favourites (And among the first I read) was entitled 'who are you' by Witch08, which was set in an au where Harry seemingly dies as a baby but then ten years later this nameless boy who looks like Harry is found, who seeks to find out his past. Despite a number of what I considered flaws throughout the story (Although these greatly lessened by the last chapter), it was an intriguing story, and I got a little frustrated when it was clear the author wasn't updating the story. Sadly, the fic no longer exists. Oh well. I've incorporated many of the story's features in a fic of my own entitled "to kill a potter: Philosopher's stone" (And stated as such). A number of my early fanfic ideas were born out of seemingly unresolved issues or plots!

I've read so many HP fics that I loved - one of which is, of course, the Draco trilogy by Cassandra Clare, so sad they're gone now.
My favorite right now is actually one that I'm betaing, but I'm lovin' the story. It's a nice Dursley and Snape story - something I never would have thought to read - that, as far as I know, is going to span all seven years. There is going to be slash, which I'm not fond of, but so far even I'm liking that pairing. But the author wouldn't like it if I spoiled the surprise :)

Basically, as someone stated before, Lightning on the Wave's "Sacrifices Arc" is very good and original. Bad news is that it's over 3 million words long if you string all 7 parts together. While I'm here, I'll also suggest this one fanfic called "Children of the Ages". It's Harry/OC and just started, both of which are usually not my taste, especially the former, since it's usually ripe with Mary-Sues. But as far as I can tell, that is NOT how this one will turn out. It's well-written and nobody seems to be "perfect" in it, so I'm holding some hope that this'll turn out pretty cool. :)
