Now, normally I hate yaoi, because it's nothing more than fangirlish fantasies that are completely OOC, baseless, and unrealistic. In Naruto, however, where the biggie is NaruSasu yaoi, there's already a lot of tension between them.
Hell, they kissed in the third chapter of the manga. Accidently, yeah, but even so...
They're one of the few yaoi non-canon couples I can ever see working, putting aside their age for a moment. Anybody else agree with me on this?

Yes, I wouldn't call myself a yaoi fangirl, since there is only one pairing I like that is yaoi, all over favourites are het. NaruSasu is a pairing that actually has some basis! Hell, I'd never even heard of yaoi until I got into them.
I would prefer, however, that in the manga there not be any final pairings at the end - which I think there probably won't be - simply because it's not really that kind of show.
Having said that here is my basis of why they are good together;
-Naruto is obsessed (period!) with Sasuke. Always has been, even before he left because then he strived to be like him, and likely always will be.
-Sasuke is too weak a character (I'm talking mentally, not physically) to have a relationship with a female. He needs to be guided, not to guide...if that makes any sense at all. Plus everyone thinks he's gay, even the people who hate him.
-Sasuke has saved Naruto's life how many times...? Once...twice...dare I say three times, or do the ones where he used an excuse ('cause I don't want to follow in Itachi's footsteps blah blah blah..') not count? Who else has he saved for any reason other than the fact he wanted to use them for something?
-Naruto has ignored, what, two confessions (semi-confessions) from beautiful girls and still he goes nowhere with it? He seems to have forgotten Hinata even said anything for crying out loud! Hmm, maybe it's because he's too busy training to save the world(Sasuke)...

I think Neji and Shikamaru works. We caught a glimpse of what could be during the Sasuke Retrieval Arc; Neji was the only one of the team who wasn't Chouji who understood what Shikamaru was doing. Also, it's not a secret that Kishimoto-sama likes to have them standing next to each other in the opening credits. It's happened more than once. I know that's all flimsy as I don't know what, but it works for me! ^_^
I can kind of see Naruto liking Sasuke, if you squint and it'd need a lot of character development to do it believably (since you can clearly see the disgust from the accidental kiss). I can't really see Sasuke liking Naruto at all though, beyond the whole grudging friendship and comrade thing.
I've always thought that Sasuke really liked Naruto after everything, but pushes him away out of his own sense of what is right.
@sheechiibii: I wouldn't say Sasuke is weak - just incredibly singleminded and obsessive. It takes a lot of mental effort to reach the level of narcissism that he shows, believe it or not.
Are you a girl? Seriously, if you've ever been in a relationship with a strong-willed girl (of which there are many, many more than you'd expect, given gender stereotypes), you'd see that they can 'guide' as you put it, and often drag the man along with them. Ever seen a mild-mannered man depicted with a domineering wife, pushing him to succeed, or buy a new car, or even just water the houseplants? That's what I'm talking about. : )
Yesh :) I am a girl...I've never actually seen it for myself; the strong willed woman. I've seen it on tv and heard of it but never seen it with my own eyes. I was in a bad mood when I wrote that though...I didn't quite mean it that way...I meant that he needed someone very strong - like Naruto to guide him.
As for Sasuke being weak - I think you are right, as I said was in a terribly bad mood when I left that massive rant lol and now that I think more clearly Sasuke's not weak at all, or else he wouldn't still be alive after all that he's been put through.

SasuNaruSasu. The whole manga revolves around them and many people even think that it's a shounen-ai manga when they don't even follow it. Before Shippuuden you could really tell that Sasuke really cared about Naruto but currently... no one knows what goes on through Sasuke's head except for 'revenge'. However, I think there was one point in the manga when Hawk was fighting Kira B where Sasuke thought back of the past.
narusasu pairing.. How about adding sai? ahahah.. I like Sai, he seemed a bit like Sasuke part 2.. LOL
I'm not a yaoi fan but I read some yaoi manga. The character developments are weak in those. Though in Naruto, the character development goes way beyond deep.. XD
..Yup! Naruto is obsessed with Sasuke. and Sasuke used to acknowledge Naruto but now in the manga, Sasuke is acting like a heartless bloke blinded with revenge... I don't know what's going on his head anymore.
I have to agree that although the manga is shonen it is actually appearing Shonen-ai with the relationship between Naruto and Sasuke, not that I disagree. I tend to like mangas where there can a be a realistic mix of couples, so not all homosexual and not all hetrosexual and try to do this myself in my stories.
Many couples do seem very realistic in Naruto though, like Naruto and Sasuke but also ones like Kiba and Shino as the characters have such strong friendships and the latter couple are only secondary characters so are usually seen together.
I read that even Masashi Kishimoto is trying to make in an open Shounen-ai ending.
I admire SasuNaru as well, but not just as most crazed fangirls (even though I am sort of one myself). I'm a person who respects the rights of gay people in reality.
Although, sometimes if people put Sasuke or Naruto too OOC, the story kind of looses the whole Naruto effect, because they're not the characters! So I agree with you on that point!
I don't know if I'm allowed to say this as a Yaoi fan girl o0', but; At first I was routing for Sakura and Sasuke, but then Naruto and Sasuke kissed!
Plus, I read Kishimoto claiming; "Well, it was supposed to be a love triangle of sorts, Naruto loves Sakura, and Sakura likes Sasuke, so does that mean that Sasuke likes...Naruto?"

At first I rooted for SasuSaku, then I rooted for NaruHina, then I saw VotE and scrapped them both >.< Sasuke can and will only ever be Naruto's!

My opinion on the matter is much the same as 'Rose-Petal-Falling'. Yes, I am a yaoi fan, however I don't like when canonly straight characters are made gay. Like, when it is explicitly stated that they ARE straight. But, not everyone in the world is straight, and I like stories where there is a diversified pairing... thingy (losing my track of thought, blah xP)
Anyway, lets be honest, SasuNaruSasu is the pairing that is the closest to canon in 'Naruto'.
On another note; if you've read stuff with yaoi pairings that make the characters completely OOC, lets not blame the pairing. It's the author of the fic. You just have to find the right story/author and pretty much any pairing could be made realistic (and if not, there's always AU).
To be honest, I hate it in SasuNaru doujins/fanfics when they make either Sasuke or Naruto look so damn WEAK. You know the types- when gentleman A jumps gentleman B and the whole affair is borderline rape. THAT is what makes SasuNaru bad.
I think if you could have them have a relationship in a more realistic way, then yeah, I guess it could work.
In my view, Masashi Kishimoto actually wants these fangirls to think like this,with the sitation between Naruto and Sasuke just BEGGING to be shounen ai-ed.

Well I'm not a yaoi fangirl (much) but i do love yaoi not in a squeal kind of way. NaruSasu are canon indeed but i don't think that the kiss count as much. I agree that in the manga Sasuke become how to say a huge DICK HEAD. However i believe that this is only because he hasn't thought about naruto for a long time because Naruto was too distracted by Pein and now he's hyperventilating and shizz.

Naruto and Sasuke. Not only does Sasuke admit to remebering what Naruto's lips tasted like (in 1 of the fanbooks) but it was also said that parting from Naruto was painful for Sasuke. It was in a databook I think.

As much as yaoi pairings in Naruto seem to be more diverse, make more sense and are generally developed better in Fanon, I don't particularly like reading them in general.
Now, that is mainly as I prefer to read fanfics which centre around Naruto as a main character, but I am not biased enough to say that he cannot be used for Yaoi which works.
Kakashi is... I'm sorry, but unless he is bisexual, he can't be used in Fanon at all like that. Come on, he's the second largest pervert in the manga, first now Jiraiya's dead, and he reads a series which is pure heterosexual smut.
Sasuke is a dick. Fanon can make him cool, but NaruSasu is the most unofficial pairing in Kishimoto's world. Why? Ignoring the fact that KishiSasu is the actual pairing for Sasuke, Sasuke is an idiot and also a twisted individual. Naruto is a cheerful person who annoyed Sasuke when they were teammates, no way in hell does that translate to "they have feelings but covering it up".
to be honest unless it uses alreday existing couples all naruto fanfiction is AU in some way other wise your just copying the manga and not really doing a fan fiction.
I love the NaruSasu pairing and yet I am not a fan of yaoi in anything else.
But this pairing works by the continuous of Naruto trying to get Sasuke back. If he didn't care about Sasuke THAT much then he wouldn't be trying to follow him.
I'm starting to really like NaruotXSasuke. The thing is that I see it being completely one sided on Naruto's part. Sasuke's too obsessed with revenge and power to love anyone (or he's just bat-shit insane). I think Naruto is in love with Sasuke, but hasn't realized it yet.
Naruto was alone his whole life, and Sasuke’s the first person his age who he crates a bond with. It’s not too far of a stretch to assume those feelings of friendship turned into feelings of love.
I think NaruSasu is okay, but I much prefer NaruGaa. There's just something very sweet about them together. If Gaara showed up more, they'd have a chance of being close to canon.
I could mention all the jinchuurki bonds and whatnot, but that's only a small part of it. That's more of the root than the entire relationship. My memory may be a bit foggy since I don't read or watch the series much, but if you think back to Gaara's revival when they're leaving, Naruto reveals this tender, almost nervous demeanor when they part ways.
I think Naruto and Sasuke have that 'best bromance forever' vibe going on. You know, where you can get riled up and yell at each other but the next day everything's cool and you're ready to hang out and get crazy again.
