I quite like reading really long multichaptered fics, the best I've ever read was 300,000 words.
With regards to oneshots, if its well written, I think it can work as one chapter.
Sometimes splitting it can ruin a good story climax.
I can be attention-deficit at times, so if a one-shot is too long I may not read it all. Breaking it into two chapters is not a sin.
I, personally, really like long stories. As long as they are well written and don't lose my attention. My favourate ever story had seventy seven chapters ^.^ It was GREAT!!!

I don't mind reading really long stories - though I always end up asking the author if I can print it because I get tired of the comp when I read.
And I write one-shots for the most part - I'm not one for long stories, I tend to have too many ideas and end up messing the 'plot'.

i think i am going to do at least one one-shot. the long stories can really get out of hand. although it's easier for me to explain and get the story going in longer ones. oh well i think my external hard-drive deserves to have a little room left. ^_^
I once read a story that was so long I went from hating a certain character to falling in love with him in two massive chapters.
...Then he died, and so did a small part of my soul ._. (goes to reread that wonderful fic)
