Were the cannon charters too OOC? Were the OCs extreme Mary-sues? Was the plot just all over the place or too hard to fallow? Horrid spelling/grammar?

Where do I start?
First off: Spelling. I’m no expert my self, but I’m pretty sure you don’t spell moonlight “moonliht”, or Naruto-kun “Naruto-koon” And that’s just the English. I won’t even get started on the Japanese (which you cannot learn fluent Japanese from anime/manga)
I author notes in the middle of the sentence bug me too; along with the note them self. I don’t care if Edward from Twilight is hot (or hawt, as she said)
But what really sealed the deal for me was this ling right here:
“there's nobody out here at this time of nighte, so I don't need this" he said as he slowly stripped off his ninja pants, revealing his tonned leg musclez and a ninja thong.”

you're right this dramatic reading is funny. Most of the time, the reader losses it and cracks up.
i tend to forget the worst stories i've read... either that or i subconsciously block out the horrible experiences. take your pick. it's usually the ones with terrible, horrible, excruciatingly unimagiably god-awful english that's so bad it gives you a headache trying to read it. i'm talling about stories where the spelling, grammar, word choice, and word order are completely f'ed up for every single sentence so badly that it's glaringly obvious the author can't speak english and doesn't care enough about the readers to get a beta (or translator). this happens a lot in harry potter fanfics.
Just read up to Chapter 9 in My Immortal. HO-LEE GOD, I am on the verge of tearing my eyes out. I just...I just...I can't even finish this...

This sounds really bad, but in R.E, me and a close friend had to write a story with a moral.
Our story was about a boy named Ishmahel. Ishmahel liked fudge. He ate it all the time. He went over the his auntie Grimp's house, and ate all of her fudge, she said it was rat-poison. He said, "OMIGOSH, how do I stop death?". Auntie Grimp's reply was, "never eat fudge again." But good old Ishmahel sleptwalked and ate all the fudge in the fudge pot. He exploded.
It was the funniest lesson of my life - we spent a good half an hour on it. Just collaborating.

Hmm.. does this not make anyone else feel really bad about the state of our education system? I mean, I read a bit of some of those fics that were posted and... my-gosh! The spelling and grammar is so bad it makes me want to cry! I aim to be a proofreader after university and I wouldn't even know where to being with correcting those. Although, they were extremely funny apart from that.

Oh I just read a chapter (if you could call it that) of My Immortal, and it's just aweful! I never thought it was that bad!
I didn't either! I honestly thought people were over reacting; but that I read chapter 1-11(quit a feet in its self, I may add) and realized they're right!
One of my worst ones was a CSI fanfic. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't majorly bad. The Grammar is just all over the place, it switches between tenses, misses punctuation, moves far too quickly and towards the end isn't very realistic at all. It just annoyed me how many reviews that one chapter got, with no mentions of the grammar errors.

I've heard about my immortal and read it months ago, don't kill me, but to be honest i don't think it's the worst. don't ask me why i read it because i can't remember, but i read one where it is meant to be a nice lemon, but sounds like a rape scene, the guy has a penis 11 inches long and 9 inches wide; even when she asks him to stop he doesn't. Some stories are so bad they remind me of the crap people auditioning for something like The X Factor, they must know they're crap but say it is really good.

You don't need to be familiar with the fandom to see why it's bad: in fact, it's probably better that you're NOT familiar with the fandom. This girl came to my attention because, about 2 years ago, I noticed she had written a 100k+ word sequel to one of my fanfics. Whilst I understand that it's fanfiction, and I don't own it, I didn't appreciate her taking my storyline and writing everyone out of character and having crazy drama written in bad grammar, etc.
This girl's style is similar to the lass behind "My Immortal", but this girl IS the real deal, and I know because she approached me to ask if I would beta for her, and the stuff she sent me was every bit as bad as what is posted, and she was genuinely serious about becoming a writer - so before you all say it's someone trolling or someone having a laugh... There seriously are people out there who are that bad and don't realise it, and really, is that something to laugh or just to pity?

Next chapter, we've moved 4 months into the future and Hermione is a hormonal bitch and Draco just takes it and then hugs her when she starts crying...
I stopped at that point, I couldn't bear it anymore!

What I find strange about all these "bad writing" examples, is that I could find something to amuse/interest me in all of them, yes even the Jeremy Kyle example (btw its strictly wrong to use real people on ff.net but quite a few writers seem to get away with it anyway). So maybe they weren't that bad after all. Metroid High School seemed quite lively to start with (true I didn't read very far) Even Terryman had a certain stream of consciousness style.
Perhaps to be truly bad, a fic needs to be either absolutely unreadable or contain such appalling concepts it should never have seen the light of day. I tentatively offer this as an example of the latter (you have to read Ch2 to realise why)

The point about this is not only that the story teller has chosen this subject, presumably with the intention to shock. Its also that periods are natural things, and really not humiliating at all. Its written legibly but the idea stinks.

LOL, Marvel the New generation truly is appalling, beating most of the competition by miles. I started reading and thought, "Ok he/she's listing the characters, its a bit unorthodox but not totally out there."
Then I looked down, and saw more of them. And more, and more.
It doesn't get any better when you reach the main part of the story (obviously skipping the totally unreadable list). It would not be exaggerating to say a five year old could produce something of equivalent literary merit.

I don't like naming folk but I think the worst fanfics are the ones that are written in texting language, I mean some spelling and grammar issues are ok, I myself am a terrible speller, but for goodness sake, written in English! I hope to god they don't write like that in their exams! Also when the characters are completely OOC and do something that they would never be caught dead doing, it completely ruins the story, and unless it's a CrackFic then it's acceptable.
One of my friends spent about 1 hour trying to figure out what an e-mail said because it was written in text language. Sure abbriviating some words when your too 'lz 2 tpe' is fine but...Not actually writing.
Although after reading my previous post my internet brothers eyes, almost melted off. XD He's a grammar nazi I swear.
My friend's the same, every time I ask her for help in school or something; she always goes through and corrects my spelling and grammar before helping me. It's helpful but rather annoying at times. As for the text language, it might be more annoying to me because I can't understand it at all, much like your friend.
It's not a specific story, but I found that a lot of people write 'Truth or Dare' fics and they just get on my nerves really.
This story is called my inner life and is one of the worst fanfics I have seen. I couldn't get through the first page without slapping myself and closing the broser. It is comparable in badness to my immortal.

Firstly, Tara Gillesbie is a troll. It was an April Fool's prank, as revealed at Pottersues (google it).
Secondly, while I normally take delight in this type of thread, I feel it is rather unkind to spotlight individual fics on a website which is designed for ALL fanfic writers (and which, furthermore, they are encouraged to visit). Many of the people here can't write worth a damn, but I see no reason to publicly humiliate you in front of your peers. You may call me hypocritical for having no problem with these threads on more private sites, but, although morally suspect, at least there the mockery is unlikely to cause upset to the mocked.

In my stories i don't use OCs - usually i bring one in just to pass the main character and perhaps comment on how cute their boy/girlfriend is so as to show that strangers think the couple look cute.
Besdies that, the only OC who ever took a main-ish role was a guy who although at first was meant to appear briefly, at the end i paired him with a character - just so that all the characters had somebody lol.

Not to mention any names but there are a number of Power Rangers writers out there who can't even spell Martial Arts correctly and, on top of that, have repeatedly refused offers of help to improve their spelling.
Of course, they're good writers in other ways, usually with their characterisation and their plots, but the spelling/grammar is really letting them down.

If I come across something I think sounds good and would like to read and when I get there it is either written in terrible language with terrible grammar (okay we all make mistakes occasionally, but I'm talking about the ones that are constant throughout the fics), or written in text language, I don't usually get beyond the first two paragraphs. I don't have any specific fics I hate and I read a lot of them, but the ones I don't like are the ones that seem to take characters totally out of their context.

I don't wish to name particular authors but some of the Twilight fics I have read have been absolutely awful. I can cope with poor plots and under developed story lines but it's the bad spelling and grammar that really spoils it for me. I have found many stories that have been spoiled for me by the numerous spelling and grammatical errors.

Read way too many bad stories to even tell you. I stop reading when things get too crazy and never look back. Although, some of the worst ones I personally read was Sailor Moon fanfics back in the 90s.
Although, I know one of the things I hate is when a story has a very good plot, but it is terrible to read because it looked like a 6th grader wrote it. Drives me crazy.

I never got to read it as the author deleted it after so many abusive reviews, but it is INFAMOUS on there now! There are even people re-writing it so you can actually UNDERSTAND it! They are being called brave lol
Mostly, it's the webspeak that gets it for me. Although I do remember a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fic once. It was written by 5 people together... Bad times is all I'm gonna say lol
My Immortal's been mentioned several times here already. It is indeed legendary.
Other (in)famous ones include 'Christian Humber Reloaded', everything in the Gonterverse, the nightmarish 'Agony in Pink' and 'Artemis's Lover', 'Celebrian', which speaks for itself, and mny, many others.
Be warned - looking most of those up is likely to be deeply detrimental to your sanity, and, in one case, may make you unable to ever look at cats the same way again.
I've read alot of fics that have been horrible. My Immortal was pretty awful. At least I can laugh at then. One fic that I absolutely hated and I thought was full of OOC's and Mary Sue's was at Batman fic where Joker had a spanking fetish and kidnapped Gordon's oldest daughter, only at first to treat her like a slave and then to do a 180 and fall in love with her since she reminded him of his dead wife.
It actually pissed me off when reading it...

OK this is the Worst story I have ever read! Its sooooooo bad that its famous all over the internet its Harry Potter or (My immortal) we have ready "Dumbledore,Snaketail and Snap." Oh, what about that Avatar the Last Airbender, comic: "How I Became Yours"? Not a fan FIC per-se, but I've heard it's really dreadful.

Now, don't get me wrong, it isn't the fact the author is dyslexic - it's the fact that she has no plot, all her characters are one-dimensional and the fact that my eyes bleed when she could have used Microsoft Word and at least spell-checked her work, let alone getting a friend to go over it and help write it.
Melted Eyes are all I have after viewing it for more than ten seconds.
